Natural Jaisalmer stone flooring, introduced as a unifying element, runs through the interiors. It’s warm, sunlit tones grounds the spaces in earthy elegance. In contrast, most of the solid wooden furniture was retained, allowing the home’s history to remain present in daily life.
Furnishings and décor were deliberately kept earthy and neutral — a considered choice to align with the idea of timelessness and to offer a subtle, continuous reminder of it. This balance of the old and new exemplifies the guiding ethos: to inspire by honouring heritage, innovate through thoughtful modern interventions, and design sustainably by retaining what still holds beauty and purpose.
The designers envisioned the kitchen as a complete addition, thoughtfully integrating it with the home’s established character while introducing a fresh spatial experience. For the homeowner, a passionate cook, the dream had always been to have a kitchen that opened directly to the backyard — a place for growing vegetables and working in close connection with nature.
Positioned to flow naturally from the main living areas, the kitchen extends the home’s warm Jaisalmer flooring and earthy, neutral palette, ensuring this harmonious home is a blend of the contemporary with the traditional. A French door, added as a defining gesture, brings in abundant daylight and provides direct access to the backyard and utility zone, where her long-envisioned vegetable garden now thrives.
At the core of the home, an arch nested within another creates a captivating illusion of infinity. This sculptural form serves as a symbolic gateway to the home’s essence, infusing the space with warmth and intrigue. Beside the Puja sits a wooden chest, a treasured heirloom of the lady of the house, introducing a note of history and intimacy. Light pours down the staircase from a skylight, while the dining area opens to a veranda lush with greenery, blurring the threshold between indoors and outdoors.
This harmonious home reflects a growing movement that sees restoration as a dialogue across time. It respects the past by preserving architectural integrity and treasured elements, celebrates the present by unifying the home with thoughtful additions that enhance its character, and prepares for the future with materials and ideas that will age with grace.
