  • This Modern 4 Bedroom House Design Blends Warmth and Minimalism | Pratishtha Architects

“Parekh’s House” is an exploration of warmth, minimalism, and modern 4 bedroom house design. Envisioned for a family seeking simplicity without compromising sophistication, the residence is designed to harmonize functionality with elegance. Our approach focused on clean geometry, earthy textures, and neutral tones with subtle contrasts, giving each space its own identity while maintaining coherence across the home. Natural materials such as teak wood, cane, and stone finishes ground the interiors, while curated lighting, muted palettes, and intelligent spatial planning promote openness and calm. The layout was thoughtfully modified from the builder’s original plan to better align with the family’s lifestyle needs, creating seamless connections between private and shared zones.

    Living & Dining Area

At the heart of the home lies a spacious and light-filled living-dining area. Originally segmented into a formal living room and a standard living area by the builder, we proposed Living area with Dining area to create a singular space that encourages interaction and togetherness. This fusion not only brings in a sense of openness but significantly improves circulation and natural light flow.

A custom L-shaped sectional sofa upholstered in soft sky-blue fabric anchors the living area. Its detailed wooden lattice base frames the sofa, adding a handcrafted touch.

A matching lounger and rounded teakwood center tables complete the seating ensemble. Neutral flooring and minimal decor allow the furniture and natural light to shine.

The adjacent dining area continues the same aesthetic language, featuring a custom solid teak wood dining table with subtle curves, surrounded by upholstered chairs in matching tones. A polished stone tabletop introduces a sleek, tactile contrast to the warm wood.

    Kitchen

The original layout combined the kitchen and dining space into one. To offer a more defined, practical layout, we proposed transforming the dining area into Bedroom 4. We also redefined the kitchen boundaries with a cement sheet partition. This allowed for spatial clarity without sacrificing openness. Bedroom 4 connects to both the living and dining zones via folding wooden shutters. These shutters allow the space to be integrated or isolated based on use.

The open kitchen follows a minimalist aesthetic, designed for both aesthetics and efficiency. A low-height half-partition wall subtly marks the transition from the living space while maintaining visual continuity. The kitchen cabinetry features base units in soft sky-blue acrylic—a recurring hue that ties into the living room—balanced by high-gloss white overhead shutters. Brass pendant lights suspended from a wooden beam over the breakfast counter add warmth and charm. A planter ledge introduces greenery, turning a utilitarian zone into a lively, interactive space.

    Bedroom 1: Master Suite

This room embodies tranquility through a monochromatic, neutral color palette. A full-height upholstered headboard in textured beige fabric becomes the main focal point, flanked by tall vertical mirrors set within teak-finish frames visually elongating the wall while enhancing ambient lighting.

The standout design element is the custom headboard wall a full-width wooden panel featuring a chevron groove pattern, lending dynamic texture and warmth. The minimalist desk, floating shelves, and neutral-toned wardrobe cater to both study and storage needs while maintaining a clutter-free look.

    Bedroom 3: Earthy Retreat

This bedroom embraces a rich material palette and textural detailing. The highlight is the feature wall behind the bed, finished in chiku grey kota stone with clean 4 mm grooves, framed in solid teak wood.

This backdrop adds depth and a subtle, rustic character to the room. The custom designed bed boasts a vertical upholstered headboard in soft grey, topped with a cane inlay panel that brings in a touch of artisanal craftsmanship.

Floating teak bedside tables and a wardrobe with sliding shutters—accented by a horizontal cane strip—complete the room, creating a visual rhythm that is both grounded and elegant.

    Bedroom 4: Flexible Private Room

Originally part of the builder’s dining space, this area was reimagined as a flexible bedroom that connects to the main living and dining area via folding shutters. The room’s design promotes minimalism and warmth.

A custom-designed teak bed with side tables anchors the layout. Fluted glass cabinets add both storage and visual softness. A compact wall mounted TV unit ensures modern utility without crowding the space.

Folding wooden doors allow this room to serve as a guest bedroom, study, or extension of the living area depending on the need. Potted plants and soft beige furnishings keep the atmosphere light and calming.
