The client envisioned a home that embodies openness and fluidity through interior contemporary design. He is drawn to expansive volumes and dramatic spatial experiences, including double-height ceilings and multiple floors. Each family member should have a distinct, personal space, yet all areas must remain visually and spatially connected to foster a strong sense of togetherness. Natural light is a key priority, with an emphasis on large openings, skylights, and transparency to bring the outdoors in.
The Interior Contemporary Design Celebrates Openness and Dramatic Volumes | DesigNiche Architecture
This G+2 bungalow in Gurugram embodies contemporary minimalism with a bold, monolithic form. The façade is a refined composition of clean horizontal lines, crisp white surfaces, and a rhythmic interplay of voids and projections. Textured white brickwork contrasts with sleek grey stone cladding, adding depth and visual interest.
The design focuses on openness, light, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections. Each floor is punctuated by generous balconies that act as transitional breathing spaces while enhancing the vertical layering of the elevation.
This residence exemplifies how bold architectural volumes can be balanced with intimate, curated interiors—creating a space that is both expressive and deeply livable.
The entrance foyer exudes warmth and sophistication, characterized by rich wooden accents and abundant natural light. The ceiling features elegant wooden paneling that adds texture and depth, complemented by a matching wooden-framed glass door that serves as a striking focal point.
A series of circular inlays in the polished marble floor introduces a playful yet refined visual rhythm, guiding visitors inward. Natural light filters in through large glass panels and strategically placed windows, highlighting the earthy tones and creating an inviting, serene atmosphere.
The living area is defined by its soaring ceilings and tall vertical windows that allow abundant natural light to filter in, emphasizing the room’s volume and openness. The floor-to-ceiling wall paneling in both single and double-height spaces becomes a sculptural focal point. Moreover, it showcases an artistic interplay of arching forms crafted in ribbed fluted textures and warm wooden finishes.
This beautifully curated kitchen, effortlessly combines classic sophistication with contemporary functionality. The space features an inviting palette of muted mauve cabinetry with a matte finish, adding a soft, feminine touch while maintaining a sense of modern elegance.
Glass-panelled upper cabinets with vertical ribbing add visual depth and allow curated glimpses into organized shelves, enhancing the kitchen’s aesthetic appeal. Brass-toned hardware throughout the cabinetry provides a vintage contrast to the otherwise minimalist finishes.
The neutral cream-toned stone countertop and backsplash act as a seamless backdrop, letting the muted pink cabinetry take center stage. Thoughtful layout planning allows for a generous U-shaped work surface, optimized for both cooking and entertaining.
At the core of the home, a soaring triple-height atrium rises like an architectural spine, threading through every floor with quiet elegance and purposeful presence. This vertical void begins at the living area on the ground floor. As a result, it establishes a visual and spatial connection that ties the entire home together in one sweeping gaze.
The verticality here is not just structural—it’s emotional. This void allows every floor to breathe and interact. From murmurs of conversation drifting down to glimpses of movement above, the triple-height space becomes a medium for silent exchanges and subtle connectivity between family members across levels.
Every element—whether the understated lighting, the rhythmic wooden paneling, or the crisp geometry of the architectural lines—adds to the spatial poetry of this core. It’s more than a volume of air; it’s the soul of the home.
In this Gurugram residence, every bedroom tells a quiet story—of the person who inhabits it. Step into any of these private sanctuaries, and a well-acquainted family member could identify its owner in a breath. The design isn’t just about style; it’s about soul.
We have tried to translate personalities into spaces with sensitivity and flair. From the regal charm of classical detailing and moulded wall panels to the muted romance of peach and cream palettes, each room reflects a distinct identity.
One might reveal its occupant’s love for dramatic, sweeping curves that command attention; another, the preference for quiet balance—subtle colors, clean lines, and thoughtfully curated calm.
These are not just bedrooms—they are extensions of their users. Every finish, form, and fabric has been chosen not only to please the eye but to echo the lifestyle and temperament of those who reside within. In this way, the home becomes not just a container of lives, but a living, breathing expression of them.
Tucked on the second floor, this bathroom is a sanctuary of relaxation and refined design. The space exudes a spa-like ambiance, offering a sense of calm and retreat. Moreover, tactile materials, bold contrasts, and organic forms create a harmonious dialogue between form and function.
The centrepiece—a sleek, sculptural bathtub—is set against a striking backdrop of glossy black textured tiles that curve gently with the wall, dramatically contrasting the surrounding calm. Nestled on a bed of smooth white river stones, the tub becomes a visual and sensorial retreat. As a result, it grounds the space with a natural element that evokes serenity.
