  • This Goa Home Has A Soft, Neutral Aesthetic | Studio Tilt

The space in Goa has been designed as the first home for a young couple, Abhishek and Roselle, who spend their time between London and Goa. The home owners wanted a soft, neutral aesthetic, a little different from the usual heavier, colonial-style homes that dominate South Goa, yet retaining some of the traditional essence. Post initial discussions, we arrived at a contemporary design style with a warm color palette, blending minimalistic design and hints of an old-world charm with a touch of Japandi elegance. The home is more an extension of the clients personalities and preferences.

Editor’s Note: Walk into an oasis of tranquility that is embodied with current style and old world appeal. Bathed in warm hues and natural light, this inviting space reflects the couple’s essence, creating an atmosphere of effortless elegance and warmth, perfect for savoring life’s moments. ~ Isha Bora

    Accent Elements and Furniture

Hints of traditional molding to the chairs and a bit of brass or gold used in lights and knobs add a touch of old-world charm and familiarity to the contemporary palette.

Statement Pieces in the Living Room

Bathed in hues of cream and caramel, statement pieces such as the abstract Obeetee rug and an origami cluster of lights from Fig Living add a sense of boldness and life to a somewhat refined interior. A majestic grandfather rocking chair from Wooden Street and coffee table set from Fleck sit perfectly against the organic rust and beige rug that ties the space together.

This carefully curated balance creates an inviting ambience, perfect for both intimate gatherings and lively social events, making it a true reflection of the couple’s style and hospitality.

Adjoining the living area are the kitchen and dining spaces that showcase a refined spectrum of almond hues, with a few bold elements that weave luxury into the design narrative.

A custom-made statement black sideboard console and dining chairs introduce a bold contrast to the otherwise monochromatic mood. Meanwhile, the bench seating adds a touch of ease for prolonged conversations. Between the sand-colored cabinets with marble and brass knobs lies a statement piece of art collected by the home owners on their travels across Europe.

The seating by the window makes for a perfect ‘me-time’ spot to curl up with a book, sip on a cuppa, and gaze out. It is flanked by a work desk on one side. It also features a bookshelf on the other, created within a wall niche.
