  • This 5,500 Sqft Duplex Flat Design Enhances the Sense of Space and Flow | SEZRA

Designing a 5,500-square-foot duplex flat design with a contemporary Neo-Classical design philosophy to create a timeless home involves a careful blend of modern aesthetics and classical elegance. The goal is to maximise space, maintain functionality, and infuse the home with sophistication and comfort.

We created an open floor plan for the main living areas to enhance the sense of space and flow. The main living room and study/den seamlessly connect, creating a comfortable and airy environment. The TV room on the upper floor flows easily into the casual dining area. We defined zones within the open space without the need to add walls by using glass partitions and wall panelling. This approach maintains openness while giving each area a distinct function.

Editor’s Note: In this duplex haven, contemporary elegance gracefully meets the whispers of classic design, creating a sanctuary where time pauses. The seamless flow between rooms, bathed in natural light, invites a serene rhythm of living, creating a sanctuary where tradition meets the present with a gentle, enduring embrace. Here, every corner speaks of quiet sophistication and eternal comfort. ~ Isha Bora

    Neutral Backdrop

We used a neutral colour palette as the foundation, incorporating shades of white, beige, and ray. These colours provide a timeless backdrop and create a serene atmosphere. We also introduced accent colours through furnishings and décor. Soft pastels or muted tones like pale blue, sage green, and antique gold hardware can add a touch of classical elegance without overpowering the contemporary feel.

The furniture has clean lines and a minimalist design. Using pieces that are functional, comfortable, and stylish. The neutral textile with luxurious fabrics like velvet or linen adds a touch of refinement. We incorporated Neo-classical elements such as wall mouldings, marble-topped tables, and intricately designed light fixtures. These accents provide a sense of grandeur and elegance. We have used different textures to add depth and interest. Smooth marble surfaces with plush velvet cushions and wooden furniture with metal accents.

    Classic Architecture

The classical architectural details, such as mouldings and decorative trims, have been modernised with a simpler, more streamlined design while retaining their classical roots. We also increased natural light by using large windows and glass doors. The sheer curtains allow light to filter through while maintaining privacy. By thoughtfully blending contemporary and Neo-classical design elements, the 5,500-square-foot duplex apartment has a timeless appeal. The open layout, neutral colour palette, classical accents, and high-quality materials create a sophisticated yet comfortable living space. This design approach not only meets our client’s desire for a timeless home but also ensures that the space remains functional and inviting for years to come.
