Our interior designers in Kochi punctuated the modern apartment with motifs. The homeowner and his family, having spent a lot of time in the UAE, desired a home interior inspired by contemporary aesthetics but with an earthy feel. Additionally, it has an earthy colour palette, giving it a one-of-a-kind look.
Accordingly, the result is a space that seamlessly blends ultra-modern elements with an interesting level of texture, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The small details, such as unique light fixtures and custom furniture pieces, add character and personality to the home.

The formal living room has a strong, contemporary, and earthy influence. A custom L-shaped sofa upholstered in beige offsets, a rug, and a coffee table add warmth and character to the space. Also, the TV unit accentuates the wall and its décor theme on the shelf unit.
However, all the furniture in this home is custom-made. The design scheme adopted for the living room sets the mood for the rest of the house. Additionally, the contemporary furniture added to the space makes it look cohesive and stylish.
Considering the frequent traffic between the dining, kitchen, and formal living areas, we decided to go for a space-saving open living form for this modern home in Kochi. Thus, the dining area lies adjacent to the formal living room.
A rectangular dining table, surrounded by matching chairs and benches, occupies the heart of the room. The lighting fixtures were carefully chosen to complement the modern aesthetic of the space. The open concept layout allows for easy flow and interaction between the different areas, creating a welcoming and functional space for both everyday living and entertaining.
The kitchen has modern, clean-lined cabinets and décor. It features a combination of sleek California scrub oak and crystal laminate cabinetry. A neutral grey backsplash cloaks the back wall. Additionally, the installation of a kitchen breakfast counter with bar stools facing the dining space makes the layout more space-efficient and keeps the conversation flowing.
It also offers plenty of built-in drawers and shelves for storage. Built-in kitchen appliances like the cooktop, refrigerator, and so on give a sleek finish to this modular kitchen. The lower and upper cabinets of this kitchen ensure optimum storage and make it possible to stack things as per usage.
There are three bedrooms, two of which share similar design schemes and structural profiles. The master bedroom exudes luxury with recessed lights. One of the most striking features, and one we are very proud of, is the design scheme on the balcony. This space however, opens directly into the backwaters of Kochi, flooding the interiors with natural light and ventilation. Additionally, the bed features an elegant wooden headboard with an upholstered panel.
The second bedroom is the most interesting one in this house. It mirrors the first in its shape and layout. It has an energizing and cheerful vibe, and the earthy palette with green paint sets up the inviting ambiance. However, adding a touch of drama are the pendant lights, which are offset by warm wood paneling, and the paint scheme.
The third bedroom features pink and grey colours that the designers brought in to complement the colour palette. However, the white walls are kept bare, saved for framed artwork. This was specifically chosen as flowers stand for enlightenment and peace in unity, which define the character of the occupant.
