Editor’s note: With such a calming and modest environment that Amogh designs have created, it is difficult to dismiss its aura. The combination of light wood and gray is sublime in appearance. Plus the selections of furniture and light pendants highlight the molded spaces preciously, with all the artwork lined with perfection. ~ Nishal Sevak
A little bit of Zen and a little bit of Scandinavian office design | Amogh Designs
In the realm of interior design, the marriage of tranquility and functionality is often sought after. The project “Modern Zen ” embarked upon our team at Amogh Designs perfectly encapsulates this aspiration. Commissioned by a forward-thinking client who desired an office space devoid of the typical corporate ambiance.
Our team set out to create a harmonious environment that blended the principles of Wabi-Sabi with modern sensibilities. The result is a 2500 sq ft carpet area office that exudes tranquility, flexibility, and a deep connection with nature.
Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, Modern Zen celebrates the intrinsic beauty in simplicity and raw essence of materials. Embracing this ethos, this interior harmoniously combines wood, wicker, and neutral colors, creating a space that emanates a soothing aura. We delicately balanced the modern design elements with Wabi-Sabi influences, resulting in a seamless design embodying the essence of Zen.
The clients’ vision for their office space was clear from the onset: a departure from the traditional office environment. They desired a workspace that not only accommodated flexible working arrangements, allowing staff to choose between dedicated workstations and informal co-working areas but also fostered a deep connection with nature.
The office was primarily intended for administrative and management tasks, with seating for 6-8 people. Additionally, the clients expressed a preference for a Zen-inspired aesthetic, characterized by light colours, natural materials, and a neutral palette.
We embraced the clients’ vision wholeheartedly and designed a space that fulfilled their desires for a Zen-inspired, nature-centric environment. The design team employed sustainable materials, including wood, wicker, and abundant plant installations throughout the office.
A fusion Zen style was achieved by integrating modern furniture elements and custom-made hangings with Wabi-Sabi-inspired wall panelling. Customized furniture, lighting fixtures, and panelling adorned the office, crafted meticulously by our team.
The office layout encompassed three spacious director’s cabins, a welcoming reception area, functional workstations with informal co-working spaces. Also, a recreational area with an informal conference room, a well-equipped pantry, and tastefully designed toilets.
Moreover, a generously-sized balcony, adorned with lush greenery, provided an inviting space for the clients to relax. Where they can enjoy a cup of tea and immerse themselves in the nature. In addition, the flooring features a 2mm micro concrete layering, resulting in light grey texture that exuded a raw and refined aesthetic. Adding a touch of inspiration to the passage, a carefully chosen quote adorned the walls, motivating all who passed by.
The prominence of wicker in the design was evident. In various forms, including furniture, panelling, hangings, and a unique pod for light switches at the entrance. Furthermore, the central passage featured a ceiling adorned with exquisite fine veneer, adding a touch of elegance and visual interest. Every art piece, decor item, wall frame, and wall art was meticulously handcrafted and customized by us, further enhancing the unique and personalized character of the space.
And it stands as a testament to our dedication of creating inspiring and functional spaces. The office exudes a sense of tranquility, allowing people to work flexibly and comfortably. Working in a space where the environment fosters creativity and well-being. With its neutral palette, sustainable materials, and abundant greenery, Modern Zen transcends the traditional office space into a sanctuary of nature and design can coexist.
