The Bourse is part of newly designed Diamond Research and Mercantile City, a business district in Surat that spreads across massive 14.38 hectares. Where the SDB covers at least 7.1 million square feet with a floor area of 35.5 acres, making it the World’s Largest Office Building. The entire structure comprises of a central spine connected to nine 15-story office towers.

Each 15-story high-rise accommodates at least 4200 offices, varying from 300 Sqft. to 7500 Sqft. India-based architectural firm, Morphogenesis started this massive project in 2015 and completed the construction by 2022 due to Covid. However, the complex will be ready to open later this year by the Prime Minister of India.

In addition, there are 131 lifts located in the complex along with various amenities such as conference halls, dining, banks, meeting spaces, restaurants, and shops. Besides the amenities, the campus houses a research institute, an international convention center, international education facilities and five-star hotels.

The design of the complex falls under energy-efficient concept that allows plenty of sunlight in offices, required for diamond workers. Along with solar powered electricity and radiant cooling systems in the corridors for pleasant transits. The landscape as well is in ‘Panchtatva’ concept; fusing all five natural elements, spanning in 200ft wide and 300ft long.

Surat being one of the fastest growing cities in India, SDB is getting ready to bring the country on new heights. With efficient imports and exports of diamonds from India and providing with efficient trading and state-of-the-art infrastructure for the manufacturers.

Conclusively, the Surat Diamond Bourse will create a mark of a modern and sophisticated India in terms of diamond, gems, and jewelry market in the world.
