“Tamara is sewn with spaces that have their original and individual identity. Rich colors, textures, and patterns portray their characteristics boldly, with allure and charisma.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)
Rathod Associates’ new approach to hospitality design headed by Ar. Sumit Rathod leads to setting up a new Restaurant called “Tamara”. In an urban setting, this restaurant encompasses a picturesque view with exuberance and experiences vermilion hues when the night falls that’s what we were looking up to while bringing life to this structure, said the principal designer. Draped with ease, the 22,000 sq. ft space is for Mr. Chandwani in Nashik and comprises a functionally beautiful plan.

As typologies of restaurants become more than just an eatery and transform into, co-working and gathering spaces develop around the world – the design brief was to cleverly amalgamate various concepts. Using the idea of ‘spaces, people and their prerequisites’ to intermingle and flow into each other, the build was conceived as a contemporary space where restaurant culture seamlessly merged with public life and their current needs.
Keeping the design intent in mind, Tamara, a Luxury Restaurant not only functions as an eatery but also serves as a venue for wedding ceremonies, conferences, and social activities. The overall design embodies a careful combination of modernity and authenticity. The building was designed to blend with the macro context recreating the sense of nature and providing guests with a pleasant environment.
The project doesn’t take elements from the existing surroundings but assumes its ability to drive new ambition in the area. Revealing very little about itself, the space creates a surprising impression in onlookers’ minds and excites one to discover what the structure is all about.
One experiences transition while entering the campus where the volumetric arrangement of the structure accentuates the key elements (entrance, terrace) and introduce a different language. This complete composition greet the users and extend inside linking the outer envelope and the inner space.
The first thing a visitor comes across is the small café set up at the entrance which further directs you towards the other areas. Two entrances are abutted by a waterbody that ‘releases’ you into the covered dining and banquet hall respectively.
The restaurant setup is a piece of art starting right from the open services to the impeccable flooring that can easily capture any visitor’s attention. The furniture is specially designed, with a careful combination of metal, wood, and fabric in grey and black to highlight the rustic red and concrete finish background.
The dining area seamlessly flows into the open bar counter creating a sense of largeness. The seating arrangements of the entire setup have been placed in the right equation which ensures proper circulation.
Introducing the banquet hall, its decor is a perfect mix of warm and ecstatic atmospheres. The splendid chandeliers, luxurious detailing, and lavish finishing complements the ceiling’s exceptional look.
The style not only conveys a royal feeling but also keeps eyes enthralled with the beauty. The hall is further connected to the private dining area and the two rooms.
As we vertically move it’s the terrace garden with “Greek Vibes” which leaves you awestruck. The concept of a glass roof is used here to create a sense of oneness with nature. The amazing use of greenery along with the open dining area adds an elegant feature and complements the extravagant look.
Adjoining this there are two conference rooms, two family rooms and one large room forming a genial atmosphere for the people to accommodate.
All in all, every element of the Restaurant is crafted with an innate understanding that interrelationships between the aesthetics and function are experienced by the user therefore, every facet should foster long-term well-being and enjoyment.
