  • An Architectural Studio Where Art And Design Merges As One | Jyaamiti Architectural Studio

As artists, we like to create something that inspires us in new ways. When designed is ingrained in routine, it has a whole other impact. We, at Jyaamiti, have always incited conversation, amongst ourselves and with our surroundings as well. There was no better place to look at our principles unfold than in our studio. Inspiration takes many forms here. An architectural studio where art and design merges as one.

“To craft your workstation can feel like a stupendous task at times. However, Jyaamiti seemed to have achieved it with a head-strong opportunity.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)

We greet the facade with unrequited zeal every day, creating the illusion of an introverted workspace. In turn, our studio surprises us with a hidden garden, our treasure. While the white is contrasted by the earthy brown of the gate-the entrance itself becomes inviting.

After a turn, comes the nucleus of the office, personified by our courtyard and the workspace that spills into it. Rather than take the inward, rigid cell block structure of a typical office, it had to reflect what we worked with-discussion.

Open in plan and devoid of walls, the inside shows a beautiful transparency between all who work, play and engage in creating. Conversation often spills over to the green, where we design, ruminate and engage in pointless drivel that bounce off the floor to ceiling.

A break just needs a peek into the shaded, comfortable scale of the various greens that surround the studio. Seasonally, these greens alter like a story-bringing the vividness of summer, color of spring, reform of autumn and pockets of rain. Like our ideas, these spaces remain dynamic and reflect the change of seasons.

From one-on-one discussions to client meetings, everything happens within these volumes. The courtyard within is a prize, it flows in nature-hosting get-togethers, parties and tea breaks. To exemplify direction and movement, red handrails accompanying a light stone slab staircase lead us to the mezzanine above.

Our work in the floor above evolves with our principles, creating a palette that borrows equally from utility and aesthetic. At Jyaamiti, we despise silence and always have music playing-the orbit consisting of our mixed tastes. Light streams in for the majority of the day, the fenestrations creating frames of stories with the street that talks to us.

The choice of colors overall represents a canvas, where the myriad of personalities that work here bring the hues. Simplistically, we relied on white, grey and brown to dominate the space around.

Personal, colorful trinkets, books and plants bring in our touch of home into the office.  For a kind of place that we spend most of our time in, the walls started learning secrets. Transparency is ensured in the way we converse, discuss and even digress.

The studio became an instrument where a wonderful codependency was established naturally. To this day, we have no doubt that we need the studio as much as it needs us.
