4 Ways to Spruce Up Your Contractor Website

Long after a home has been designed and built, contractors and appliance repair people keep it running smoothly. However, there’s a lot of competition when you offer essential services. Having a polished website for your company will do much more for your professional reputation than you may realize.

Is your contracting business’s webpage a bit of a fixer-upper? Check out these four tips for making a business website that draws customers in and increases the likelihood that they will contact you for services.

1. Remember, Less is Usually More

If you’re thinking, “I want lots of pictures on my website to grab people’s attention,” you may be focusing on the wrong things. Yes, using images on your webpage can help enhance the browsing experience for potential clients. Still, you also risk slowing down your loading speed if the images aren’t optimized correctly.

Besides this, the more design elements you have on a given page, the more crowded it will look. Potential customers will have to work to find relevant information like how to contact you or ask for a quote.

When designing a contractor page, the most important thing is to ensure all the information relevant to your business is readily visible. If you have a web submission form clients can fill out to get a quote from you, consider making that form available on every page of your website. Stick to one or two images at most, and make sure clients can find your contact information and the services you offer without clicking more than once.

2. Choose a Dynamic Color Scheme

While crowding your page with unnecessary text and images isn’t a great idea, you also want to ensure your webpage isn’t boring or flat. This can be achieved by using colors that inspire interest while giving your website a cohesive look. For instance, if you have a logo, try using the colors in that logo to create horizontal stripes that highlight the services you offer.

3. Reduce the Loading Speed

One of the most important factors in determining whether customers will have a good experience while visiting your website is how long the page takes to load. According to extensive research by Google, 32% of people will give up on a website that takes 3 seconds to load, and a whopping 90% will give up on a website that takes five or more seconds to load. That means you could be losing 9 out of 10 potential customers who might have decided to book your services if your webpage hadn’t taken so long.

As mentioned before, optimizing any photos or images on your page is one of the most important ways to reduce website loading speed. You can do this by using the smallest possible image size. Check your site’s loading speed on multiple devices, including mobile devices, and try to get the loading speed beneath 3 seconds.

4. Make Sure It’s Optimized for Mobile

Mobile devices have become one of the most common ways people access the internet, in some cases surpassing laptops and desktop computers in popularity. The Pew Research Center asserts that an average of 76% of people living in countries with advanced economies use smartphones.

This means that having a website people can easily view on their phones is an important aspect of owning a business since chances are high that customers looking for contracting services will be using their mobile devices to do so.

Create the Website Your Business Deserves

Don’t let poor webpage design and performance hamper your success. Revamp your company’s online presence by utilizing these four tips to improve your website’s appearance and functionality.
