  • 12 of Our Favorite Life Hacks

In our busy urban life, it is okay sometimes to fall behind, become overwhelmed with housework and chores. And of all major household worries, organizing closets and storage areas are the biggest stress-giver. But with a few easy life hacks, you can use these tricks and trips to stay on top and enjoy a hassle-free life!

    Start with the smallest items!

If small items like shoes, socks, clutches, and other trinkets are giving you trouble, try an over-the-door pocket organizer. They’re an inexpensive way to add additional storage to your closet. As they hang over the back of your closet door, you won’t have to worry about adding more stuff to your closet rod.

    DIY Pants Hangers

Hangers with clips can be really useful for hanging pants and skirts, but not very affordable. Luckily there are plenty of simple ways to add clips to your existing hangers! One way to do it is just by using a couple of clothespins. This works best on thin wire hangers, but it’s not impossible to use on thick plastic hangers.

    More Shoes On A Shelf

If your shoe collection is taking up a lot of shelf space, here’s an easy way to save some space. Place the left shoe with the toe facing into your closet, and the right shoe with the toe facing out. The shoes will fit together more snugly, and you’ll be able to fit an extra pair in this way!

    Hooks For Handbags

Need a way to hang up handbags, clutches, belts, or other accessories? Try a product called S-hook! These hooks are usually inexpensive and easy to find, and are very easy to set up.  (Jeans can also be hung in them too. Just slide one or two of the belt loops over the hook, and there you go!)

Don’t forget to label everything — it’ll make things a lot easier.

Use regular post-its or stick-on notes to label things. Don’t underestimate the power of a good labelled system!

Never lose your drill bits, screws, or nails again when you use magnets to organize them.

You might not always have time to call a handyman, and might have to do the dirty work yourself! Make sure you save up all the little drill bits and other smaller hardware items to put to use later on.

    A Solution For Scarves

It can be tricky to figure out the best way to store scarves in a closet. One of the best ways I’ve found is to attach a few shower curtain rings or curtain clips to the bottom of a hanger. Just slip a scarf through each ring, then hang it up next to your other clothes! All of your scarves will be clearly visible and stay wrinkle-free.
