  • This Vastu Home is an Oasis that Reflects Minimal Design and Modern Tradition | Chaudhari Associates

The entrance foyer sets the first impression of the Vastu home Chandradev residence, carefully designed to embody both warmth and sophistication. The palette here draws inspiration from earthy stone textures paired with subtle golden accents, creating a welcoming yet refined ambience. Italian marble with soft veining finishes the flooring, lending a sense of elegance while ensuring durability for high foot traffic. To enhance spatial depth, designers treated the walls with veneered wall cladding. This allows the grain of natural wood to add tactile richness against the polished floor. A strategically placed console unit in matte wood, topped with a sculptural décor piece in brushed gold, anchors the space. Layered lighting accentuates textures, and recessed cove lights wash the ceiling edges with a soft glow. An antique brass pendant becomes the centrepiece, which aligns with Vastu principles at the home’s entrance.

    Entrance Foyer

The illumination not only highlights the material details but also establishes a soft, inviting threshold between public and private zones of the home. A tall mirror with a golden trim visually expands the narrow foyer space and adds practicality. This also allows quick last-minute checks before leaving the home. The furniture strategy remains minimal yet purposeful, as storage cabinets tuck neatly into the walls to ensure clutter-free circulation.

Decorative elements such as potted greens and abstract artwork bring in freshness. This connects the foyer to the overall design ethos of “modern minimalism with traditional undertones.” Architecturally, the foyer of this vastu home balances functionality with symbolism. In Vastu terms, the design subtly respects the east-facing orientation by creating an open layout that allows positive energy to flow seamlessly into the home. The design team chose materials for both practicality and aesthetics—stone for grounding, wood for warmth, and gold for prosperity. The overall experience of the foyer is one of subtle grandeur. It sets the tone for the rest of the flat, promising a balance between contemporary luxury and timeless comfort.

    Living Room

The strategy here is to balance modern simplicity with subtle touches of luxury in a vastu home, ensuring the space feels grand yet intimate, functional yet emotionally resonant. The flooring combines large beige Italian marble with delicate brass inlays that outline geometric borders, establishing an atmosphere of understated luxury. This choice not only reflects natural light beautifully during the day but also works harmoniously with artificial lighting in the evening, giving the room a golden warmth. The walls maintain an off-white tone to amplify brightness and a sense of space, complemented by accent surfaces in rich walnut veneer and soft grey textured paint. The feature wall behind the main seating is clad in vertical wood panels, their grain providing warmth and continuity, while a large artwork framed in brushed gold becomes the room’s focal point.

    Furniture Elements

Furniture in the living room is curated for both proportion and comfort. A large grey upholstered sectional anchors the seating arrangement, complemented by two accent lounge chairs in muted blush tones that soften the palette. At the center, a marble-topped coffee table with a brass-finished base doubles as a functional surface and sculptural element. Smaller nesting tables in dark wood provide flexibility, while a sleek wooden console along the entertainment wall accommodates multimedia needs without drawing attention. Back of TV unit designed with hydro finish white marble.

    Lighting Design

Lighting defines the atmosphere of the space. Recessed downlights provide general illumination, while concealed cove lighting softens the ceiling and highlights material transitions. A statement chandelier in brushed gold with glass globes crowns the central seating, blending European elegance with Japandi restraint. Wall sconces mounted on veneer panels add layers of light, washing surfaces gently to emphasize texture. This layered approach allows the room to adapt bright for daytime, ambient for evenings, and intimate for family gatherings.

    Detailed Elements

The design layers textures and materials carefully to create richness. The cool polish of marble contrasts with soft area rugs in muted greys and creams, grounding the seating cluster. Upholstery fabrics vary subtly in weave and tone, adding depth even within a restrained palette. Brass accents shimmer subtly on furniture legs, lighting fixtures, and picture frames, introducing refinement without ostentation. Indoor plants in ceramic and brass planters punctuate the corners, becoming the perfect Vastu plants for home, adding freshness and biophilia to soften the geometry of the room.

    Material Palette

Natural light floods through large windows, softened by sheer drapes that filter glare while maintaining brightness. Heavier curtains in complementary tones provide privacy and warmth when required. Circulation is deliberately fluid, with clear paths connecting the living room to the foyer and dining area, ensuring openness while allowing the space to retain its identity.

Symbolically, the living room embodies welcome and togetherness. The grey palette conveys balance and modernity, becoming the perfect vastu colors for the home. Golden accents and wood details infuse warmth and subtle grandeur. The Japandi influence is visible in the clean lines, natural materials, and muted tones, while European elegance appears in brass details, marble finishes, and the chandelier centre piece.

    Pooja Room

The architects designed the pooja room as a sacred retreat within the home, blending spirituality and design to create an atmosphere of peace and reverence. Rooted in traditional Indian architectural sensibilities, the space is carefully curated with materials, textures, and symbolic elements that honor both functionality and aesthetics. The focal point of the pooja room is the divine idol, framed against a backdrop of rich wooden paneling. The natural warmth of wood introduces a grounding element, establishing a sense of permanence and devotion. A raised platform, finished with deep red cloth, holds the idol and symbolizes auspiciousness, purity, and reverence. This color instantly draws attention to the sanctum while evoking a spiritual energy. Brass diyas and decor elements flank the altar, their golden tones catching the light and reinforcing the sanctity of the space.

    Traditional Modern Design

The arched wooden frame at the entrance is a defining feature that adds a traditional architectural character. The carved details reference classical temple motifs, creating a symbolic threshold that separates the spiritual zone from the rest of the home. Complementing this, the use of white walls ensures simplicity and calmness, allowing the deity and the decorative elements to remain the central focus. Natural elements enrich the home as vastu plants, such as a Tulsi in a hand-painted pot, anchor the interiors and reinforce cultural authenticity. The inclusion of greenery balances the richness of the wood and brass, adding freshness and life to the sacred corner. Overall, the pooja room design emphasises devotion, calmness, and cultural continuity. It is a perfect blend of tradition and simplicity, where each detail—from materials to the vastu colors for the home enhances the sanctity of the atmosphere, offering the household a timeless spiritual retreat.

    Kitchen

The kitchen is conceived as the functional heart of the home, a space that seamlessly integrates efficiency with refined aesthetics. Designed in an open yet defined layout, it is crafted to serve the modern lifestyle of the family while maintaining an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. The flooring is finished in polished Italian marble, continuing from the adjoining dining space, ensuring a sense of spatial unity. The cabinetry is a striking combination of matte sage and natural veneer finishes, their flat-panel design emphasizing minimalism, while brushed brass handles provide a touch of understated luxury. The countertops and backsplash are clad in nano white quartz offering both durability and elegance. This material selection ensures ease of maintenance while also introducing a sophisticated contrast against the darker cabinetry. Overhead cabinets feature frosted glass shutters with integrated lighting, providing a soft glow that illuminates the working counters.

    Functional Tips

The tall unit accommodates built-in appliances a microwave, oven, and refrigerator streamlined into the cabinetry for a clean, contemporary look. Task lighting in the form of modern pendant lamps hangs above the island, complementing concealed LED strip lighting under cabinets that provide functional brightness.

The overall palette of matte sage, white, and natural wood is softened with subtle accents of greenery placed near the window, which also ensures ample natural ventilation. Every element from material textures to spatial planning has been designed to balance utility with elegance, creating a kitchen that is both highly functional and visually cohesive with the rest of this vastu home.
