The project involves the design and construction of a modern residential villa that emphasizes functionality, comfort, and contemporary aesthetics. Contextualized in the suburbs of Ahmedabad city, the house balances open and semi-private spaces organized through thoughtful volumes and a grid system. The central open space serves as the heart of the design, connecting transitional spaces like passages with semi-private spaces like formal & informal halls. Oriented to the north, this villa house ensures an even diffusion of light through its openings, creating a serene and inviting ambiance in every part of the house.
Editor’s Note: “Embracing the open skies of Ahmedabad, ‘Anagh Residence’ unwinds in layers of light, shadow, and space. As sunlight streams through its courtyards and stairway, it creates patterns on the walls that evoke a sense of peace and time. Blurring the boundaries between indoors and nature, this villa breathes life into architecture.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

The house is accessible by the inclined sloping paved plane connecting car parking and drop-off zone. The movement and pause points are thoughtfully designed linking the outdoor sitting area and flight of steps leading to the main entrance.
The outdoor seating space features striking solid-colored flooring with a pattern that emphasizes a centrical focus, enhancing the flow around it. Steps from this area lead to a garden, flanked by a water body that makes this junction a prominent feature of the outdoor space.
The entrance cube leads into a vestibule that transitions seamlessly into a double-height formal space and a central passage. This passage overlooks the open central space, connecting the dining area and a triple-height stairwell.
An open-to-sky courtyard, accessible from the family living and formal halls, acts as a catalyst for spatial interaction, blending public and semi-private zones.
This courtyard also serves as a delightful outdoor area for family gatherings during cooler mornings and evenings, enhancing the experience of the space.
The house is a G+1 structure with a basement dedicated for leisure and relaxation. The basement features a home theatre, a pool table, and a serene temple. Thus, making it a dedicated space for rejuvenation.
The ground floor accommodates both formal and informal drawing rooms, creating spaces for varied interactions and gatherings. It also houses a well-planned kitchen and a dining area. However, it seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetics.
The first floor houses the private zones, with three master bedrooms. Moreover, they are connected by a passage overlooking the central open-to-sky space.
Each room is designed to offer views of the outdoor surroundings, creating a harmonious relationship between interiors and exteriors. The interiors align seamlessly with the architectural language. Thus, maintaining a cohesive and elegant design narrative.
Both the architecture and interior design, executed by PDS, reflect a synchronized and holistic approach, embodying the firm’s core principles. However, this villa is a testament to thoughtful design. Furthermore, it seamlessly integrates functionality with aesthetic appeal.
