This nature-inspired residence transforms a tight urban plot into a light-filled, immersive living environment. A layered architectural composition dissolves the boundary between built form and landscape. Nature becomes an integral part of everyday living, flowing through the home with light, air, and greenery. The design also resolves a complex vertical program within a compact urban site. A carefully considered massing strategy unifies diverse functions while establishing a strong yet restrained exterior identity.

This residence embraces the latter, allowing light, landscape, and water to become active elements of everyday living rather than mere additions to the architecture. The stilt level accommodates car parking, a home office, and staff quarters. The ground floor brings together shared family spaces that support everyday living. Private bedrooms and a home theatre occupy the upper floors, creating a clear separation between public and private functions. The planning maintains this distinction while ensuring a seamless sense of spatial continuity throughout the home.
Guided by a nature-inspired design approach, the project responds thoughtfully to both the site constraints and the client’s brief. The design invites light, air, water, and greenery deep into the built environment. Together, these natural elements shape a home that feels open, immersive, and closely connected to its surroundings.
Entry to the house occurs from the north through a narrow street, opening into a generous arrival court defined by a water body that extends into the building footprint. This transitional space leads to a foyer and a voluminous living area that blurs the distinction between indoors and outdoors.
A large courtyard anchors the living space, allowing natural light to flood the interiors while maintaining privacy and creating a setting that feels both expansive and intimate. Positioned at the heart of the house, it visually connects to the dining and kitchen areas, reinforcing social interaction and shared daily life.
The master and children’s bedrooms are placed along the southern edge of the site, ensuring comfort and seclusion.
A central circulation spine organizes the house vertically, with a staircase culminating in a skylight that brings daylight deep into the interiors throughout the day.
Spatial sequencing follows the functional rhythms of the household. A separate service access ensures uninterrupted movement between staff and family areas. The terrace level dedicates itself to leisure and entertainment. It features landscaped spaces and a bar counter that residents frequently use for social gatherings.
The interior palette is deliberately muted, drawing from earthy tones of grey, teakwood, and ochre to evoke warmth and a sense of groundedness. Warm white walls provide a calm backdrop for eclectic furnishings, complemented by white marble flooring and textured grey finishes.
Nature-inspired greenery flows through the courtyard and interior spaces, enriching the sensory experience, while teakwood detailing adds depth and a timeless Indian character. Externally, a restrained palette of raw concrete and landscape allows the building to remain distinct yet harmonious within its lush surroundings, with light and shadow accentuating the richness of its materials.
