This Cement Texture Wall Office is a Blend of Minimalism and Luxury | Olive
As the design team from Olive, we were met with a hopeful smile from our client, who had a clear vision in mind. When the client first approached us, their warehouse was divided into small rooms. They wanted a space that would cater to the array of emotions that accompany Indian weddings.
The ample space and uncluttered design create a feeling of exclusivity and luxury. Overall, the design style is modern and sophisticated, with a touch of luxury and elegance.
A Touch of Personality, while the overall theme remained cohesive, the men’s section received its distinct personality. The luxurious stone veneer partition stands proud without taking away all the attention.
The designer’s signature “cord piping” work took centre stage on the reception wall, a subtle nod to my design aesthetic.
Here, the wallpaper on the hanging rods acted as a layering, adding a playful touch that tied the entire space together.
We started with a colour palette that whispered luxury—a symphony of greys, each shade boasting a subtle texture. The cool cement texture on the walls in the women’s section blended beautifully with the smooth microtopping floor, the reception desk echoing its polished finish. This avoided the starkness of minimalism and instead created a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere.
We embraced flowing curves throughout the space, from the gentle arch of the entrance ceiling to the rounded beams.
This not only added a touch of elegance but also created a sense of flow, guiding the customer’s eye seamlessly through the boutique.
Functionality was equally important. We cleverly camouflaged the balcony doors within the walls, while the staff area door seamlessly blended into the background with its matching grey hue.
Even the air conditioner received a makeover with a coat of grey paint, ensuring no element detracted from the main attraction—the clothing itself.
Lighting played a crucial role in showcasing the garments in all their glory. We strategically placed high CRI lights to showcase colours with absolute accuracy. Overall lighting was minimal, with focused beams highlighting specific pieces and creating a sense of intimacy within the space.
Even the seemingly mundane details were meticulously considered. Custom-designed metal details adorned the walls, adding a touch of designer flair without being prone to fingerprints—a practical touch for a high-traffic area.
The client was specific about the number of dresses to be displayed, which required us to cleverly manage the space available. We made an open layout and tried to use the space to its maximum without making it feel overcrowded, hence maintaining a luxurious feel.
They wanted two different sections for men and women. The women’s section was required to have distinct segments—for bridal outfits, for sangeet outfits, for pret wear, and sarees.
To address this, we designed the space to maintain a cohesive feel; the women’s section leaned towards graceful curves and flowing lines, while the men’s section embraced a more masculine aesthetic with straight lines and stone textures.
Working with them was a breeze—they knew exactly what they wanted. What excited us most was how seamlessly our design aesthetics aligned with theirs. Every concept we proposed was met with enthusiastic approval, showcasing the trust they had in our expertise. Through a few collaborative meetings and some key design decisions, our imagination was brought to life.
This designer atelier is more than just a store—it’s a stage for fashion to truly shine. By embracing a symphony of greys, flowing curves, and strategic lighting, we’ve created a luxurious environment that allows the clothing to take centre stage. After all, a beautiful garment deserves a beautiful backdrop, and that’s exactly what I believe we’ve achieved. This project was a testament to the power of thoughtful design, where every element works together to create a truly captivating experience for the customer.
