The Unique Design Of This Thoughtfully Designed Home Showcases Refined Luxury | Ocube Architects
The site is located in a quiet, prime residential area of Jaipur, surrounded by low-rise bungalows. Due to the non-orthogonal road intersections, the plot retains an irregular shape on two sides. The designers aligned the residence along the north-south axis to benefit from optimal orientation.
This strategic alignment and unique design enhance cross-ventilation, allowing south-to-north breezes to naturally cool the living spaces. The house opens up to roads on the south and east, while the surrounding neighbourhood features planned vegetation along the road edges, adding to the overall greenery and shade.
While the design brief emphasised a contemporary style, the clients were open to exploring a variety of materials. This allowed for creative and unique design solutions. They envisioned a home with a unique design that reflected modern architecture and interiors. This aligned with their refined taste for luxury and elegance.
Additionally, they were keen on incorporating traditional handmade artworks to add character and cultural depth throughout the home. Functionally, the architects planned the unique design of the home to include four bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a drawing room, a multipurpose hall, a jacuzzi, and an entertainment room—ensuring both comfort and versatility in daily living.
Upon entering, one is first greeted by a striking sculpture with a unique design. They followed it with a beautifully carved mural in beige stone that sets a refined and artistic tone. The ceiling features semicircular vaults finished in textured paint, creating an illusion of greater height and spatial grandeur. They introduced warmth through wood-finished PVC panels on the ceiling, enhancing the semi-open foyer’s inviting atmosphere. A large blue door framed by stone moulding makes a bold statement. It offers a grand and memorable entrance to the home.
Upon entering, a grand staircase lobby features striking stone flooring and a central sculptural centrepiece that sets a bold tone. A backlit onyx panel paired with a PU paint-finished console forms a stunning backdrop. It is a unique design for the waiting area, further enhanced by an intricate flooring pattern. The architects finished the stairwell walls in textured paint, crowned by a dramatic chandelier that elevates the space’s sense of grandeur.
In the formal drawing room, they crafted a refined and contemporary ambience. Elegant wall panelling with gold arches, accented by a mix of fabric and glass, creates a dynamic interplay of textures and elevates the overall aesthetic.
Transitional geometric forms, bringing a sense of balance and sophistication to the space. An accent marble tabletop with a metallic PU finish enriches the material palette. Furniture upholstered in contrasting suede fabrics adds depth and visual interest.
The furniture pieces stand out beautifully against the backdrop of neutral-toned walls. They further enhanced it with natural sunlight streaming through large glass windows that bathe the room in warmth.
A curved LCD unit finished in rich veneer introduces a new material element into the space. It adds both visual interest and textural contrast to the overall design.
A unique design of a 25-foot-tall 3D hand-painted mural sets the tone for the grand atmosphere of the residence. It is visually striking and deeply rooted in cultural expression. It serves as a dramatic backdrop for the dining area.
The dining table features a stunning onyx stone top paired with a gold metal base, exuding elegance and sophistication. Complementing this, they carefully chose contrasting leather upholstery on chairs. They reflect the client’s regal and refined taste, tying together luxury and personalisation in the space.
Designed with simplicity and serenity at its core. They anchored the space with a stone-carved Namokar Mantra, the sole highlight on the otherwise minimal walls, fostering a calm and spiritual ambiance. A console with a metallic paint finish adds a subtle touch of elegance, complementing the overall restrained and thoughtful design.
The kitchen features a striking island crafted from Dover White marble, serving as the central focal point of the space. A rich material palette enhances the design, incorporating tinted glass, fluted panels, stone, fluted mirrors, and cabinet shutters with a vibrant paint finish. The overall color scheme is thoughtfully balanced hence creating visual harmony.
Paint-finished arches gracefully frame the bed, introducing a soft architectural elegance, while fluted detailing on the sides and door, reinforces a refined design narrative. The room is anchored in a soothing beige palette, elevated by upholstery in rich, warm brown tones that strike a harmonious balance between subtle sophistication and inviting warmth.
A custom console featuring fluted detailing and a rich veneer finish adds depth to the material palette, while thoughtfully selected light fixtures blend seamlessly into the theme, enhancing the room’s ambiance with understated luxury.
The master bedroom exudes luxury and modern royalty, blending contemporary design with opulent materials. Curved panels in a metallic finish frame the bed asymmetrically, yet achieve visual balance through the use of fluted fabric-finished panels.
A bold leather-finished bed with metallic detailing anchors the space, standing out against a neutral backdrop. The subdued wall tones allow the carefully selected loose furniture to take center stage.
A study area finished in rich veneer adds depth to the material palette, while statement glass hanging light fixtures enhance the room’s regal and refined ambience.
The son’s bedroom is designed around the principles of boldness, pattern, and repetition. Fluted wall panels with subtle metal detailing extend seamlessly onto the door, cleverly concealing it when closed. A bold color palette of grey, white, and red adds a striking visual impact, while the metal accents are used sparingly to enhance, not overwhelm.
The same fluted pattern continues on the TV wall, with white as the dominant base to maintain balance. Statement furniture pieces, such as a red leather-finished bed, a rotating chair, and a triangular table, reflect the dynamic personality of the occupant and bring a sense of individuality to the space.
In contrast, the daughter’s room is designed to evoke a sense of softness and delicacy. A pastel color palette with subtle shades of green sets a serene tone, while the specially crafted furniture becomes the focal point. The walls are kept relatively plain to highlight the detailing in the furnishings.
At the center, a four-poster bed featuring leather quilting, wooden posts with a metallic finish, and sheer curtains enhances the room’s gentle and elegant character. A long console integrated with the study area finished in glossy and matte PU paint finish offers ample storage through thoughtfully designed drawers, tailored to the user’s needs.
The centrally located living room on this floor serves as a unifying space that seamlessly connects all the bedrooms. A beautifully repeated pattern in leather quilting adorns the feature wall, with bedroom doors cleverly concealed within the design for a streamlined look. Bold colors set the tone, adding a sense of drama and vibrancy to this family gathering area.
A carefully curated mix of finishes—including metallic paint on side tables, a stone top on the center table, and a leather-finished lounge sofa paired with fabric-upholstered chairs—enhances the richness of the space.
Set against the leather wall panels, this room stands out as one of the most characterful areas in the home, where color, material, and form come together in perfect balance.
The terrace lounge is designed as a serene, calming retreat—simple, elegant, and thoughtfully curated for relaxation. A metal jali introduces a play of light and shadow, adding visual interest throughout the day. Aqua blue subway tiles bring a refreshing pop of color, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere.
This space is perfectly suited for breakfast gatherings and quiet family moments, with the cool breeze flowing in. A swing adds a playful yet cozy element, making it a favorite spot for the family to unwind together.
This expansive entertainment room is crafted for hosting large gatherings, combining elegance with functionality. Grand arches frame the openings on two sides, offering sweeping views of the cityscape and creating a dramatic architectural statement.
The feature wall, finished in PU paint, showcases a rhythmic play of arches with integrated doors that maintain the clean, sculptural look. A sleek leather-finished console with fine stitching detail stands out against the monochromatic wall backdrop.
The walls are kept in a single tone to enhance the room’s scale, while the textured paint on the ceiling adds subtle depth and character to the space.
The jacuzzi adjoining the entertainment room is a stunning showcase of stone craftsmanship. Thoughtfully detailed in black and white marble, the space features fluted patterns that elevate its visual appeal. Elegant stone arches frame the jacuzzi area, creating a sculptural and immersive experience. This blend of refined materiality and architectural form transforms the space into a luxurious retreat within the home.
A spacious terrace is thoughtfully designed as a green retreat, with lush plantations enhancing its natural charm. In one corner, a dedicated bar area is crafted, featuring a ceiling clad in warm pine wood planks that add a cozy, organic touch. The bar counter stands out with a striking combination of white and black marble, blending elegance with contrast. An outdoor seating area beneath a pergola invites relaxation and socializing, all while offering panoramic views of the cityscape—a perfect setting for entertaining or unwinding in style.
The stonework in all the bathrooms is a testament to refined craftsmanship and meticulous detailing, with each space thoughtfully tailored to reflect the personality of its user. In the master bathroom, intricately carved stone walls paired with a backlit onyx stone basin create a luxurious and visually captivating focal point.
The son’s bathroom features a striking red vanity with marble post legs, set against crisp white stone—a bold and expressive design that mirrors his dynamic character. In the daughter’s bathroom, green marble is elegantly paired with white, offering a seamless extension of her soft and delicate room palette. The powder toilet combines fluted stone detailing with elegant wallpaper, achieving a refined and welcoming ambience. In the parents’ bathroom, fluted stone elements echo the design language of their bedroom, while traditional arch motifs introduce a layer of sophistication and timeless appeal.
A parametrically designed curvilinear perforated panel clads the façade, forming interstitial semi-open spaces along the southern and eastern perimeters. Crafted using ferrocement, this lightweight and durable material creates a visually striking, multilayered façade. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the design enhances sustainability by moderating heat and light, contributing to a cooler and more energy-efficient indoor environment.
This modern intervention adds a fresh, contemporary identity to the residence while responding thoughtfully to the local climate. One of the defining highlights of the residence is its thoughtfully curated color and material palette, harmoniously balanced through the use of rich textures. This layered approach brings depth and cohesion to each space. Stone craftsmanship plays a prominent role, showcased through intricate flooring patterns that subtly define movement and spatial transitions. In the bathrooms, attention to detail is evident—from the careful selection of stone varieties to refined carvings and sculptural forms—each element contributing to a tactile and visually compelling experience.
One of the key challenges of this project was initiating the design process with a focus on optimal space utilization, as the irregular plot with multiple road-facing sides limited conventional planning options. The aim was to make the best use of the available area while incorporating large, spacious rooms along with all necessary utility functions. Another significant challenge was designing an environmentally responsible structure that balanced energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Executing a curvilinear, perforated ferrocrete façade within the constraints of the plot required both technical proficiency and creative problem-solving.
Bringing our vision to life through a 25- foot tall 3D hand-painted mural, crafted directly on site, was a memorable and rewarding experience, adding a distinct artistic touch to the project.
