  • The Japandi Interior Design of This Adobe Brings In Natural Light | Kru Architecture and Interiors

Nestled in the urban landscape of Coimbatore, we designed a space to bring in natural light. Using a neutral color palette, we created a calm atmosphere to be relaxed and be mindful. Each space within the house takes on a distinct personality, creating a tapestry of designs that pay homage to both the Japandi interior design and the individuality of its inhabitants.

Editor’s Note: Illuminated by natural light and thriving by natural hues, this house emits a calm and peaceful aura for its dwellers. By keeping the interiors minimal yet elegant, the designers gave new life to this old structure while keeping its modern charms intact. With carefully layering the materials and accentuating natural elements, the design defines timeless aesthetics. ~Rajvi Dedakiya

We were commissioned to revamp a house whose shell had been constructed years ago and was left untouched afterwards. The task was to give new life to this villa while preserving the original structure.

    Living Room

The living room exudes understated elegance, with a thoughtful curation of natural textures. At its heart, a green fabric sofa adds a subtle pop of colour. Thus, harmonizing with the room’s earthy tones. Beside it, a cane seater introduces a touch of organic warmth, echoing the cane shutters of the sleek TV unit.

The recycled fabric carpet grounds the room, with its soft texture and muted hues bringing a sense of coziness and comfort. Completing the space, a dark, expressive artwork serves as a striking focal point, adding depth and a modern edge.

    Dining and kitchen area

The dining room showcases a wooden dining with a fluted base that brings a subtle touch of craftsmanship and elegance. Around the table, cane-back chairs provide both comfort and an organic, airy feel, creating a balance with the warm wooden tones. One wall feature built-in shelves serving as a display for curated decor pieces. The dining space, seamlessly connected to an open kitchen, exudes understated elegance with its simplicity and thoughtful design. The kitchen features sleek cabinetry in neutral tones, such as warm beige or soft gray, paired with a subtle ceramic tile backsplash that adds texture and charm without overpowering the space.

    Master Bedroom

This bedroom embodies a serene, modern aesthetic with its raw concrete wall panel, adding a stroke of industrial chic to the space. The bed, dressed in soft linen bedding, invites comfort while its simplicity complements the room’s minimalistic design.

Positioned opposite the bed, a large painting becomes the prime focus. The overall effect is a calming, cohesive atmosphere that exudes effortless style, where natural textures and muted colours create a tranquil retreat ideal for unwinding and finding peace at the end of the day.

    Kids creative area

The kid’s room is designed to inspire creativity and adventure, featuring a vibrant study table set against a bold wallpapered wall. Across the room, a simple and accessible toy storage keeps playtime essentials within reach, encouraging organization and independence. On the opposite side, a climbing wall adds a fun, active element, allowing for indoor exploration and physical play. The room is a delightful blend of functionality and whimsy, perfect for a child’s active imagination and growing curiosity.

    Family Lounge

This family lounge has a neutral cement wall cladding that provides a modern, understated backdrop for the space. The lounge is furnished with cozy seating in earthy hues, creating a comfortable area for board games and family gatherings. Minimalist decor and soft lighting enhance the lounge’s soothing ambiance, making it an ideal spot.

The cement bar counter serves as a central feature offering a striking contrast to the lush greenery surrounding it. The semi-open design allows for a seamless connection to the outdoors while still providing shelter and shade, making it ideal for gatherings in any weather.

Minimalist seating and thoughtfully placed planters add to the relaxed vibe. Henceforth, enhancing the sense of being immersed in nature. With its inviting layout and versatile bar area, this terrace garden is the perfect zone for entertaining.

    Terrace

This terrace garden offers a peaceful escape with a blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. A wooden ceiling lends warmth while a round skylight allows sunlight to stream onto a strategically placed sun lounger below, perfect for basking in the sun. Additionally, a striking tribal wooden panel centered around comfortable metal chairs adds a touch of artistry and serves as a centerpiece.

    Exterior screen

The meticulously designed metal screen that wraps around its exterior, the screen not only provides a sense of seclusion but also allows the villa to seamlessly connect with its natural surroundings. As sunlight filters through the intricately designed metalwork, dynamic shadows are cast across the walls throughout the day. The villa’s open layout and understated decor create a calming ambiance. Thus, embracing natural light, organic textures, and refined details. The Japandi interior design of this villa achieves a timeless aesthetic that caters to modern living.
