This space reimagines the floor as an immersive experience artwork — a tactile, walkable exhibition that blurs the line between architecture and art. The composition uses in-situ terrazzo not as a background element, but as the protagonist — layered with intentional geometries, architectural fragments, and earthy tones that echo both mid- century abstraction and Indian craft traditions. Situated in the heart of South Delhi, this 5000 Sq.ft Hospitality project is an Ode to Art.
Reimagined As An Artwork With An Immersive Experience, This Restaurant Is Itself A Piece Of Art | Pantone Collective
The project stands at the intersection of landscape, sculpture, and built form. Framed by a minimal glass atrium, the space opens into an outdoor arena where terrazzo flows uninterrupted — from threshold to terrace — dissolving traditional boundaries. The design draws from the principle of clean architectural forms, allowing the artful floor to breathe and command attention, while the surrounding structures remain elemental, textural, and restrained.
They handcrafted the in-situ terrazzo on site, emphasising process over perfection. Crushed aggregates, muted pigments, and curated stone chips have been carefully cast into a patchwork that resembles a large-scale abstract painting — layered in sienna reds, olive greens, dusty pinks, and charcoal greys. This chromatic ensemble pays homage to both modernist art and the mineral tones of Indian soil. Each terrazzo pour is laid as a gesture, defined by steel strips and a meticulous rhythm of curves, angles, and contrasts. The patterns are intuitive yet structured, balancing spontaneity with a sense of order — like walking across a canvas mid-creation.
Use of reflective materials as supporting elements to enhance the drama of the flooring. The architects consciously selected materials that wouldn’t compete, but rather elevate it like supporting actors in a beautifully choreographed scene.
Inside, we introduced ripple sheets on the ceiling, adding movement and shimmer that mirrors the fluidity of the abstract floor pattern below. This gentle reflection not only amplifies the space but creates a sense of rhythm and energy overhead.
Outside, the bar counter features a seamless reflective surface. It is almost like liquid chrome — that captures and extends the floor’s patterns into infinity. It’s subtle yet striking, constantly playing withlight, shadow, and repetition.
We also added peachy-hued glass bricks, which cast a soft glow and harmonise with the earthy tones of the terrazzo. These materials work in concert — not by stealing attention, but by creating a layered, theatrical experience. It always draws your eyes back to the ground, where the real story unfolds.
