  • Interior with Terracotta Cladding Accommodates the Growing Needs of a Toddler | Space Agency

Being a multi-generational home, this interior with terracotta cladding accommodates the growing needs of their toddler. Our clients, a young family moving into their first home, approached us to design their 1800 square feet apartment on the 17th floor of a tower overlooking the picturesque Hoodi Lake in Whitefield.

With the idea of unifying traditional Indian design concepts with contemporary style, we started by replacing the solid wall of the foyer with a wooden slat partition.

    Living Room

A terracotta brick clad wall contrasts the dark green sofa with Pichwai artwork adorning the wall behind. Additionally, a mid-century style armchair and center table add to the varied style of rattan in the living room.

    Dining Area

Elements of wood continue into the dining area, and neutral fabrics complement the natural light pouring into the space. Indian folk artwork and ledges also decorate the walls in this room. These features, however, add a touch of luxury, in keeping with the clients love for hospitality.

The bedrooms are designed following the similar themes, with rattan and wood shutters for wardrobes in the guest bedroom.

    Primary Bedroom

In the primary bedroom, the bed is backed by an Indian-inspired wallpaper. However, this contrasts with a striped oversized fabric headboard.

Furthermore, a partition made of ribbed glass, wood and rattan completes the space. Thus, separating the walk-in wardrobe from the bedroom.

    Kid’s Bedroom

The kid’s bedroom, however, is designed to accommodate the growing needs of the family. Although, it currently acts as a playroom for their toddler, with storage for toys etc.

Styled with Indian print curtains, Indian artwork, soft lighting and woven fabric and non-fabric elements, the apartment, in summary, makes for a perfectly serene abode in a picturesque natural setting.
