Contemporary Aesthetics and Tranquillity In An Urban Surrounding: Bankar House | GDA Workspace

Visit : GDA Workspace

Surrounded by city life, the ‘Bankar House’ by GDA Workspace blends contemporary aesthetics with functional design to create a warm abode. This 2050 sq. ft residence designed by Principal Architect Gaurav Deore & Interior Designer Pritam Deore in Nashik is a cosy yet elegant home that strives to create a meditative space.

The concept behind designing this residence was to orient a narrative that is focused on being tranquil, soothing and rejuvenating to the user group. In a contemporary centric design, the overall aesthetics of this project align towards geometric compositions that help in attaining continuity in the forms to create a holistic design. To match this tone of the compositions, the material palette has been chosen with precision to suit the warmer tones.

The ornate entrance lobby opens up to the living room where the material exclusivity is visible through the rich upholstery fabrics and the beige of the walls. The Buddha statue at the entrance sets a tone for the entire atmosphere of the home, it creates a peaceful vibe right from the doorstep.

The Satvario flooring tiles exude grandeur in a minimalistic aspect. Against these neutral tones of warmer shades, the rich red through the upholstery act as an element of surprise to add depth to the palette. This is balanced by a subtle lighting layout that highlights the elements to bring out their true beauty.

Nature has been one of the key elements in this abode, from vertical gardens to indoor planters, all these elements help in adding a whimsical touch of natural greens. Located in an urbanized setup, this abode strives to blend in nature within a dense city.

The semi-open partitions within the dining space and the living area create a seamless blend while keeping them as separate spaces through the sleek wooden fins. This connection creates an interactive zone to entertain guests and a communal atmosphere.

The Satvario tiles are used for the flooring to maintain neutrality against the warmer tones. The dining area then opens up towards the kitchen space which is subtle contrast of minimalism against the other elements in the abode.

A white finish kitchen counter and similarly toned cabinets create a spacious zone for cooking which is directly connected to the dining spaces. A lower slit window opening allows ample light and ventilation in the kitchen area.

Suiting the kitchen decor, the washbasin besides the dining space correlates with the flooring palette to follow the Satvario tiles in the vertical aspect creating a balance.

The daughter’s room goes in sync with the overall colour palette, but adds a twist of yellow, creating a lively atmosphere within. These yellow tones are balanced by using neutral shades of blue along with wooden finishes to create a space that thrives on rejuvenation and relaxation.

The furniture elements are kept minimal and functional to avoid visual clutter. The wooden flooring in darker tones adds a balance to the lively space.

A similar aspect of the colour palette is repeated by using shades of blue in the form of wall panels in the bathroom with the contrast of white.

The master bedroom uses red as a pop of colour within the warmer tones of the home to create an eccentric space. These tones are balanced by using rich wooden finishes and flooring in a herringbone pattern to add dynamicity. Ample openings allow a flow of natural light and ventilation making look spacious.

A comfortable lounge chair is added as an element for the users, adding a small relaxing zone for reading. Greens and earthy elements like artefacts, earthen pots, etc add up to amplify the core concept of spatial tranquillity.

A seating area near the window is the ideal space during the evenings to enjoy a cup of tea while watching the sunset. The warmer tones of the interior then light up the entire space in a whimsical way, to elevate the spatial experience towards a meditative zone.

The son’s bedroom is an eclectic element of the house, that merges warmer tones with blue to add a playful vibe. The customised furniture is kept simple yet efficient. The overall aesthetic of the space is accentuated by balancing the colour palette with minimal design.

The main balcony is one of the core centrepieces of the residence, with natural vertical gardens and ample greens this space thrives on merging nature in urban terrain. With suitable minimalistic furniture, it is a perfect spot for late evenings to observe the moving city life amidst the peace of nature.

The Bankar House is a residence that envisions creating a tranquil adobe in a dense city that focuses on relaxation and rejuvenation by orienting the design towards a concept of naturistic meditation.
