The brief called for an experience centre that would feel both grand and welcoming while responding sensitively to its site context. The project site stood out for its dense tree cover, which shaped the design from the beginning. Instead of treating the greenery as a constraint, the design made it the starting point.
Birla Experience Centre in Mumbai Creates a Journey Through Courtyards and Greenery | modez consultants LLP
The experience centre takes shape as a cluster of interconnected volumes. These volumes weave around courtyards and landscaped pockets, keeping the existing greenery visible throughout. The landscape remains a constant presence as visitors move through the centre.
Layered massing, visual openness, and carefully framed views create an environment where architecture and landscape exist in dialogue, making the experience centre feel deeply rooted in its setting.
The design ensures a continuous visual connection with the landscape. The built mass gradually reveals itself through the dense tree cover, creating a sense of discovery and anticipation. The experience centre’s planning focuses on customer movement and engagement. It guides visitors through the space while encouraging meaningful interaction with the environment.
All five blocks are positioned to create a natural progression through the experience centre. Visitors move seamlessly between discussion zones, display areas, presentation spaces and sample apartments, creating a cohesive journey.
The massing and material palette were intentionally designed to blend into the site, allowing the architecture to emerge naturally from its surroundings. Internally, the sequence of spaces—from the drop-off and reception to the lounge, display areas, AV zones, and sample apartments—has been carefully choreographed to create a seamless and intuitive visitor journey.
Landscaped courtyards and green pockets punctuate this movement, ensuring that nature remains visible and accessible at every stage of the experience.
