  • Bespoke Interiors Stand Out In This Minimalist Indian Residence | SP Designs & Projects

We designed this home in modern Indian Minimalist style with Mid-Century Modern influences and bespoke interiors. The clients wanted a cosy and inviting classical interiors that exude warmth and sophistication. Blending modern functionality with Indian craftsmanship and earthy aesthetics, all while keeping the space open and airy. We have taken inspiration from Indian homes from the 60s–80s with exposed wood, handmade textiles, and functional furniture. The simplicity, muted colour tones, and focus on functionality are drawn from Wabi-Sabi aesthetics, embracing imperfection, softness, and calm. The spatial design emphasises openness, light, and simplicity, supporting both functional living and emotional comfort. The key concepts of the projects are clean lines & simple forms, curved arch, tactile materials, natural materials like wood, and fusion touches.

Major materials we used are wood, veneer, mouldings, cane, marble, fluted glass, etc. The furniture, especially the sofa, peg table and coffee table, dining chairs, and wardrobe, has sleek, understated lines. Use of wood (exposed ceiling beams, furniture), woven cane, and soothing textile reflect a connection to traditional Indian crafts. The cane and wooden chair nod to colonial-era Indian design, while the subtle classical detail of cornices in the ceiling and recessed lighting bring in a contemporary feel.

For the whole house, we used a muted, soft, neutral colour shade that promoted a sense of calm. To add some contrast in the bespoke interiors, we blended warm, earthy tones like the rust-colored sofa, deep teal tufted headboard, natural wood accents, and beige flooring to create a grounded, earthy palette. Sheer curtains allow natural light to filter in softly, enhancing the calm atmosphere. Added indoor plants, which enhance the space with a natural element, and contribute to a feeling of calm and wellness.
