The brief given was to design an elegant house that exudes warmth, simplicity, and sophistication. It should be a sanctuary to return to. Designing within a tight budget was a primary consideration for this project. Our goal was to create an elegant home that remained within budget constraints.
An Elegant House That Exudes Warmth And Simplicity | Dojo Design Studio
We chose “Arches and Colors” as a consistent design element. Arches were a consistent design motif throughout this elegant house, adding a touch of architectural elegance, visual interest and continuity to the space. Whereas ‘colors’ is like seasoning in cooking—it adds flavor, personality, and a sprinkle of excitement to transform a bland space into a vibrant and inviting feast for the eyes without burning the pocket of the client.
When you enter the house, you step into the welcoming embrace of the living room, a bright and airy sanctuary designed to banish your Monday blues.
Bathed in a modern, minimalistic palette of serene pastel blue. Crisp white walls complement the subtle striped accents, fluted white paneling, and sleek black detailing. This space invites you to sink into the sofa and unwind.
The clever furniture arrangement creates an open, spacious feel without sacrificing comfort. A partition door, featuring fluted glass and a mirrored surface, elegantly divides the living room, kitchen, and bedroom corridor, ensuring privacy while enhancing the sense of expansiveness.
Step into the Parent’s Room—a breath of fresh air that feels both cozy and inviting. This room offers a serene atmosphere, blending warmth with understated elegance.
Warm tones shine through the headboard, while muted hues grace the walls and white finishes adorn the wardrobes, creating a bright and airy feel.
At the heart of the room lies the captivating arched headrest, boasting black and white stripped accents, teakwood paneling, and ambient lighting created through the teakwood strips above the headrest sets the mood.
Adding a touch of refined elegance, muted cane details adorn the wardrobes, completing the sophisticated yet cozy ambiance.
The room is smaller compared to the others, but the carefully selected color combination makes it look spacious and uncluttered.
In creating the daughter’s room, we wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a place to sleep. It needs to be a space that reflects her personality and supports her studies. Being a medical student meant she needed room for both solo and group study sessions. With limited space, we got creative and placed the bed near the window. Thus, it opens up the room for a more spacious feel.
A collapsible study table had a versatile planning, allowing the room to expand when not in use. Storage was another puzzle to solve. Those textbooks aren’t exactly lightweight. Thus, we designed storage solutions that could handle the load while keeping everything organized and accessible.
But what really brings the room to life are the special touches. The pink headboard adding a pop of color and personality, and the foyer ceiling painted in a playful barcode-like pattern.
And who can resist the asymmetrical mirror, inviting you to take a closer look and maybe strike a pose? And as for those arches, they’re more than just a design choice. They’re a subtle nod to elegance and grace. It also appears in unexpected places like the headboard, dressing table, and wardrobe patterns. These elements string the whole room together with a sense of style and whimsy.
In conclusion, our journey to design this home was guided by the vision of creating a warm, simple, and sophisticated sanctuary within the constraints of a tight budget. Through the consistent use of arches and colors as design elements, each space infuses with character, elegance, and visual interest without compromising on affordability. From the inviting living room to the serene Parent’s Room and the vibrant daughter’s room, every detail was thoughtfully crafted to reflect the inhabitants’ personalities and lifestyles. It is our hope that this home will be cherished as a haven to return to, where comfort and style harmoniously coexist.
