    A Guide to Outdoor Seating

Designing your outdoor space comes with a lot of considerations. Do you want a nature-based garden, do you want to create a space to spend sunny days reading quietly or do you want to create a vibrant hosting space to have friends and family round for dinner parties and barbecues all through the summer months? Whatever your plans for your garden, whether you want to invest a lot in your garden or if you are looking for cheap furniture to bring some life into your garden for the season, choosing the right outdoor seating is key.

    Type of Seating

The first thing you need to consider when you are thinking about outdoor seating is the kind of furniture you want. Do you want to set up a big garden table with lots of comfortable outdoor dining chairs, or are you looking more at making an outdoor living room style set up with comfortable sofas and armchairs for friends to lounge around on? Perhaps you are wanting to give that rustic garden feeling with a wooden or metal bench, or you want to replicate the relaxed seaside aesthetic with some sun loungers for relaxing on and working on that summer tan. Whatever your style, there are a few things to consider for all types of outdoor seating.

    Materials

The type of materials you choose when it comes to outdoor seating can make all the difference. If you are looking for something that is easy to clean and cost-effective as well as easy to store, plastic furniture may be the one for you. However, if you’re looking for furniture that is more durable and sturdy, materials such as wood or metal may be a better option. Be aware, however, that metals and woods are likely to require more maintenance over time, as softwoods are susceptible to the cold, particularly in Britain, and may rot or soften over cold British winters. Metals need to be looked after and sealed properly to avoid rust.

    Design

The next thing you need to consider is the design of your outdoor furniture. This includes not just the aesthetics but also the size. Picking outdoor furniture that is the right size for your space is important, as an outdoor sofa that is too large will overtake your garden, however, a small garden bench may not be big enough to accommodate everyone you intend to host in your garden. Find furniture that is the correctly sized for your garden and the types of activity you intend to use the space for to get the best use of it. Picking outdoor furniture that is keeping up with the garden trends of the year can be a great way to elevate your garden and make it the hosting space that all of your friends are talking about.

Planning a great garden space for the summer is easy if you pick the right furniture, so take into consideration your budget, the kind of materials you want to use and the activities you want to use your space for and make your garden dreams come true.
