A Bungalow House Interior Design Inspired By Craft And Calm | The PLOT Studio
The first floor boasts a checkered wooden ceiling. It is a statement element that adds texture, warmth, as well as a touch of heritage craftsmanship to the space. Complementing this rich ceiling design are beautiful hanging lights (olie living) and thoughtfully placed ceiling fans (fanzart), creating an ambience that’s both cosy and sophisticated.
Each bedroom has been designed with ample natural light and ventilation in mind, while the living rooms are crafted as warm gathering spaces for the family to come together. The study room offers a quiet retreat for work or reading, and the mandir brings a serene spiritual element into the heart of the home. The kitchen caters to both functionality and style, with modern fittings and plenty of workspace, connecting easily to the dining and living areas.
Tucked into the centre of the bungalow is the informal living room. With its double-heighted ceiling soaring above, the room exudes a sense of openness and freedom. What truly sets this space apart is its visual connection to every corner of the house. Whether it’s the gentle view of the mandir, a peek into the kitchen, or a quiet moment catching the play of light from the central skylight, this living room overlooks it all. It acts like a bridge between the home’s private and public spaces—grounded yet elevated, intimate yet open.
The spatial generosity makes the room feel luxurious without being formal, inviting barefoot lounging, heartfelt conversations, and slow afternoons. Furnished with cosy seating, layered textures, and personal touches, this space effortlessly balances comfort with character.
The formal living room of this project is a true showstopper.
The foundation of the space is its warm wooden flooring, which adds a grounded, earthy charm. It also enhances the overall richness of the interiors. The natural grains of the wood lend subtle movement and texture, creating an inviting yet upscale atmosphere. Overhead, a gracefully curved POP false ceiling softens the geometry of the space, introducing a sense of flow and sophistication.
Designed to blend natural materials with soft drama, the space balances simplicity with a quiet boldness. Adding an unexpected and refreshing touch is the green stucco-painted ceiling—a bold yet soothing element that draws the eye upward. The soft, tactile finish of the stucco complements the rawness of the wood on the dining table and brings a hint of nature indoors.
Designed with both function and flair, this kitchen is a perfect blend of timeless style and modern sensibility. At first glance, it’s the striking checkerboard flooring that catches the eye—an iconic pattern in crisp Grey and white that brings instant character and visual rhythm to the space.
Balancing this bold foundation is a sleek, understated grey countertop that runs along the workspace. The cool, neutral tone of the countertop adds sophistication. It also serves as a durable, practical surface for everyday prep and cooking.
The mandir is graced with a double-height ceiling, creating an uplifting sense of vertical openness. One of the most captivating elements of this mandir is the use of breeze blocks—that welcome streams of natural light, casting delicate patterns across the floor and walls throughout the day.
The floor is laid in natural cement tiles from Bharat flooring. These tiles bring an earthy character to the room, grounding the space with texture and warmth, while their muted tones create a perfect canvas for the more expressive design elements.
Against one wall, a stunning rust pink storage unit becomes the room’s defining feature. Both bold and sophisticated, the unit offers ample space for books, toys and keepsakes, all while adding a rich pop of colour that feels both modern and inviting. The centre of the unit has cosy reading nook. It features a beautiful wallpaper from kalakaari haath with a delicate design that adds depth, softness, and a hint of whimsy to the space.
The room features wooden flooring that adds an immediate sense of warmth and grounding. Its natural texture and tone give the space a homely richness, setting a relaxed and welcoming foundation underfoot.
Enhancing the cosiness is a half-height wooden wall panelling that wraps around the room. This detail not only adds visual interest and a touch of craftsmanship, but also ties beautifully with the flooring to create a layered, cohesive feel.
The parents’ room in this bungalow is a beautiful balance of tradition, comfort, and understated elegance.
A key feature of the room is the use of fluted wall panels, extending gracefully above door height, adding vertical rhythm to the space.
The First floor foyer offers a moment of pause between private rooms and the rest of the home.
The highlight of this lobby is its stunning checkered wooden ceiling, a design detail that instantly draws the eye upward. The ceiling blends geometry with rich natural tones, creating a tactile pattern that adds depth and rhythm to the space.
A customised chandelier from olie living gracefully cascades down, anchoring the double-height volume and adding a sense of vertical drama.
Cement tiles by Bharat flooring in a soft grey tone lend a handcrafted charm to the room. Their natural variation and matte finish add a sense of depth and authenticity, anchoring the space with a tactile, lived-in feel.
The focal point of the room is a beautifully upholstered olive green bedrest. Behind the bed, a delicate soft sage wallpaper washes the wall in tranquillity.
The highlight of the room is the pink upholstered headboard, adding a gentle pop of colour and a cosy, plush texture to the bed. The soft hue brings warmth and a sense of playfulness, while still feeling refined and timeless.
Behind the bed, the wall is brought to life with a floral wallpaper. Along the window wall, a built-in ledge seating creates the perfect nook for reading. Topped with cushions and bathed in natural light, this corner becomes a favourite hideaway within the room.
The room is grounded with wooden flooring, which instantly brings in warmth and character.
A defining feature of the room is the accent wall clad in white brick tiles by Flexstone, adding a bold yet earthy layer of texture. The exposed brick look introduces a touch of raw charm. Above the TV unit, a beautiful hanging statement light by Olie living steals the show.
