  • Is Teak Garden Furniture Worth It?

Currently, there is a fascination with teak wood. It is quickly becoming a trendy outdoor furniture wood among outdoor lovers- and rightly so.

When you are shopping for new furniture for your patio or garden, you might have heard of all the reasons you should consider teak patio furniture. And there are plenty of them.

Unfortunately, teak furniture doesn’t come cheap and due to their cost compared to other types of furniture, you most likely have second guesses and wondering, is teak garden furniture worth it? Continue reading to find out.

    Strength and Durability

When looking for outdoor furniture, your first thought is always whether the furniture has the potential to survive the harsh outdoor conditions. There might be rain, snow, or even scorching hot sun shining down on it.

Teak is a natural hardwood – Its strength and durability is unquestionable. It can withstand extreme conditions, such as extreme heats and colds. It also has high resistance to rot, termites, and afflictions that can attack other woods. This is what makes it perfect for outdoor furniture.

    Adaptability

Teak wood is the most adaptable wood there is. It can survive any harsh weather, and it has a natural resistance to termites and other damaging elements. It has water resistance properties, so even when it is raining, you will not need to worry about your furniture getting damaged.

Also, one reason why teakwood is a long-time shipbuilder’s favorite is its tendency not to splinter easily.

    Beauty

The color, texture, and grain make it stand out as garden furniture. It is exquisite and timeless. While fresh, teak garden furniture has a golden brown color, and as it ages, the colors mature into an elegant silver-grey color that gives it an elegance that suits any decor.

Although not recommended by wood experts, you have an option of oiling fresh teak wood to retain the golden brown color. However, many people prefer well-aged teak.

    Maintenance

One disadvantage of having cozy outdoor furniture is keeping up with the tough maintenance requirements. Some woods need to be carefully sheltered from harsh weather, while others need routine oiling and sealing without which they fade out and whither.

Teak is entirely different and doesn’t require any maintenance. If anything, giving it too much attention disrupts its natural chemistry and therefore damages it. Therefore, teak is ideal, especially if you do not have the patience to care for furniture. Washing it occasionally is good enough to keep it in perfect condition. Making it worth every coin, you invest.

    Conclusion

Although teak is one of the more expensive woods in the market, it is worth every penny. We can say it is a clear definition of value for money.

First, once you buy your quality teak, you will not need to worry about replacing them soon – unless you need to change your garden furniture for other reasons.

In addition, you will not need to spend more on maintenance. If this is not value, then I do not know what it is.
