  • Bold Colours And Geometry Come Alive In This Airbnb Design | Parking Designers Private Limited

    [Sassy_Social_Share]

In 2025, Parking designed its first permanent public art installation to celebrate the design vision of its founder- Uday Parkar. Commissioned by Privy Stays, this vibrant architectural artwork has opened its doors in Alibaug, a coastal town just a short boat ride from Mumbai, inviting visitors not only to witness, but to stay inside this work of art. This local Alibaug home was converted into a Hotel with bold colours & geometry – with No Walls Broken, No Bricks Added. Just Advertising, Re-imagined as Architecture. Today, guests who have experienced its soul proudly list Frida Nest among Airbnb’s “most loved homes.”

    Where Architecture Meets Expression

Designers seldom approach architecture as a permanent public exhibition of art. When people treat it like one, it reflects in the work. Parking is the first and only creative agency in India that brings the power of Advertising into Architecture, making our architectural design stand out with visual communication that is a mix of visuals, poetry and advertising layouts.

A Transformation Inspired by an Icon

Frida Nest began as a modest structure built for a small school, later converted into a villa. Parking was consulted to convert it into a hotel, the site visit revealed an unexpected muse. The earlier blue structure reminded us the world-famous painter Frida Kahlo’s home in Mexico.

Thus, visual stories were added in Mexican colors to the structure, but in advertising expressionist style. We added many windows and canopies on the facade creating a feel of colonial architecture of Mexican countryside.

    A Canvas Brought to Life

What followed was an inspiring journey with colors: the building became a hand-drawn, hand-painted canvas. Human figures, abstract forms, and wild color flowed- inside and out- until the structure felt less built and more painted.

“At one point, we exhausted the stock of colors available in town,” recalls painter Ali Raja. “The pigments had to be ordered from another town. Even the paint dealers were curious to see what we were creating.”

    A Journey Against the Odds

Having worked since the age of thirteen, Raja admits he had never used so many colors on a single site. Frida Nest, he says, was not just a project- it was an unforgettable journey. The one that unfolded against relentless odds.

Completed during one of the longest monsoons in recent memory, the site endured five continuous months of rain. Freshly painted facades would dry just in time-only to be washed away overnight, demanding the same work to be done all over again the next day.

“It taught me patience, the meaning of passion, and faith in the architect’s vision,” Raja reflects. “I am deeply proud of what we created. A project like this comes once in a lifetime.”

At Frida Nest, every wall has a different color. Each bedroom has a different character. The swimming pool feels like a painting you can actually dive in. The sunrise & sunsets around pool are dramatic. The colourful terrace dining area, awakens your taste-buds even before the first bite.

The library and indoor games room transport you into colourful experiences. The chairs hung above the dining table creates a surreal experience as you dine in the open-air terrace cafe.

Frida Nest is not simply a place to stay- it is an inhabitable artist’s masterpiece, a living manifesto of what happens when architecture dares to be a fierce storyteller.
