Ugaoo has newly completed its sustainable office headquarters, Ugaoo HQ. Ugaoo, India’s leading indoor plant brand, is known for its commitment to sustainability, conscious gardening, and its deep-rooted relationship with the tribal families who live and work on its 25-acre farm in Talegaon. More than a workplace, the HQ is a living extension of the land – an architectural response to the rhythms of cultivation, the textures of nature, and the people who form the heart of the Ugaoo ecosystem.

At Ugaoo, every plant begins with a seed sown by the tribal community members who have been part of the brand’s journey since its inception. Their daily rituals – tilling soil, watering seedlings, nurturing growth – became the central inspiration for the design.
The architecture and interiors of this sustainable office aim to mirror this life cycle: from soil to plant, from plant to workspace, from workspace back to the land. This continuity forms the conceptual backbone of the building.
The material palette draws directly from the farm’s earthy landscape. The designers use terracotta, exposed brick, lime-washed surfaces, and raw wood throughout to create a tactile and grounded environment. Soft arches echo the organic curves of leaves, while the warm, red-toned walls recall the soil from which the plants emerge. The intent was to create an architecture that feels grown rather than built – one that breathes with its surroundings, absorbs light gently, and invites touch.
The architects designed the sustainable office to promote openness, collaboration, and transparency. The ground floor features an open-plan workspace accompanied by private cabins and meeting rooms, allowing for seamless movement between focused work and collaborative engagement.
The first floor extends this open workspace concept and houses a 25-seat conference room – a large communal gathering space and a dedicated photography studio, essential for the brand’s content and product storytelling.
Given Talegaon’s climate, the project required thoughtful adaptation. The region experiences harsh and prolonged monsoons, and the site is lush with established trees and vegetation. To address these conditions without disturbing the land, the architects elevated the building above ground level, allowing water to move naturally through the site while protecting the structure from seasonal flooding. Material choices were equally climate-responsive: exposed brick and terracotta offer durability and weather gracefully, while maintaining the earthy warmth at the core of the design vision.
Beyond environmental considerations, the architecture honors its human context. The building is situated within daily proximity to the tribal families who cultivate the very plants that fill the workspace. Their presence is visible through the polyhouses, the fields, and the movement of people. This activity creates a living, dynamic backdrop for the headquarters.
The design encourages this relationship rather than isolating the corporation from its source; instead of separating farm and office, Ugaoo HQ aligns them both physically and symbolically.
Inside, the interiors continue this narrative through subtle gestures: a hand on a curved arch mirrors brushing a leaf. Raw wood edges recall tree trunks, and sunlight on terracotta echoes the dappled light inside the polyhouses, reinforcing care.
Ugaoo HQ stands as an integrated environment where sustainability is not an afterthought but the core language of design. It is a space shaped by the land and informed by the people who work it. The building supports a brand that values growth—of plants, communities, and ideas—as its central mission. The architecture reflects a simple truth: we grow plants, and in return, plants find a way to grow us.
