Design, when it emerges as a living tapestry, turns the experience of living into a vibrant everyday narrative. Baldota House in Alandi, Pune by ARCHOS accommodates three generations under a single roof in the area spanning 7500 Sq. Ft. Spearheaded by the family’s desire for a generous space and a theatrical essence along with balanced aesthetics, architect Jimit Mehta crafted an abode that blends ancient Vastu wisdom with a contemporary aesthetic. The core of the home lies intertwined in the threads that create a design story with spaces fostering connection while respecting privacy, and layers born out of lush terraces.

Standing strong on a long, narrow plot, Baldota House lays its first brick at the street-facing garden that softens the junction between public and private zones. A melody of plants unfolds beneath a custom-cut GRC screen that doubles as an elegant façade, filtering morning light in patterns across the marble plaza. This verdant beginning sets the tone for the meaningful design and balanced aesthetics that follows: each balcony serves the roles of both buffer and bridge bringing the cool breeze inside.
Thoughtfully divided into three floors, the residence accommodates the public spaces such as living and drawing rooms, temple, double-height dining, kitchen, guest room, store and utility on the first floor. While the second floor includes the family room along with three bedrooms, and the third floor houses two bedrooms, home theatre, gymnasium and a large terrace.
Taking the first step towards the entrance, one tends to be awestruck by the living area- a luxurious ambience emerging out of marble cladded TV wall over a grooved MDF panel finished in white PU and a frosted mirror backdrop. The space also complements the drawing room clad with a panel merging beige laminate and rose gold mirrors. The staircase with its grey veiny stone elevates the opulence of the floor along with the wall featuring incredible murals.
Another well-crafted space adding to the luxurious essence of the floor is the double-heighted dining area. A rising ceiling adorned with wooden motif supports gathering, while a pierced timber jaali floats between dining and puja, glowing from the concealed backlighting. Furthermore, the family room on the second floor greets visitors with earthy textures and palette of browns and beiges.
A corridor leads to the two bedrooms—each a distinct symbol of enhanced comfort and luxury. In the first suite, a sense of grandeur is achieved through an upholstered headboard and a metallic color palette. A concealed door within a walk-in wardrobe bestows a dramatic provision for organizing clothes.
Guest room, on the 1st floor, boasts of a minimalist aura with a 3D Charcoal Panel as the bed back and a color palette comprising shades of blue.
Uniquely crafted, the bunk beds in the kids’ room feature circles and arcs cut-out in warm timber– playful elements and balanced aesthetics uplifted by bright colors in the shades of green and yellow, supporting children’s curiosity and playfulness.
On the third level, the other two bedrooms, a master and a guest, feature rich materials including stone and wood showcasing colors that ignite curiosity. Filled with subtle blues and beiges, and darker shades of brown and black, the rooms in Baldota house are designed to remain in harmony with the overall aesthetic while carving their individuality.
The third floor also accommodates a home theatre— a space designed to entertain in a comforting environment. Plush leather recliners, embossed with the Baldota monogram on stepped platforms for perfect views. Allowing the ceiling to drown in ambient glow, the discreet LED ring lighting mimics the starry night.
The gymnasium planned with an industrial angle, features exposed brick walls and polished concrete floors. A surprising element of refinement fills the space with pendant lights that catches one’s attention in no time.
With attention to detail, the design team hasn’t left any stone unturned in crafting a design that deals with every space with equal commitment and balanced aesthetics. Even the bathrooms clad in marble finished tiles and finished with gold accents, make the interiors gleam along with soft lighting. Baldota house’s outdoors are the cherry on the cake. Sprawling terraces transform into living areas under the stars adorned with fiber-cement planters nurturing greenery. The integrated seating niches carved into planters welcome coffee-time conversations. During the daytime, these terraces offer a piece of personal heaven. At dusk, they turn the space into a luminous sanctuary.
Blending harmony with uniqueness, ARCHOS ensured that the layout is guided by the Vastu principles. Contemporary minimalism captures luxury and defines the atmosphere within the house. Whether strengthening the familial bonds in the double-heighted dining or taking an escape on the terrace in the cold evenings, the family home for the Baldotas evolves with them. An evolving poetry, the project with its thoughtful design process, symbolizes a union of creativity and aspirations.
