The Linear Abode – A Composition of Geometry, Light, and Tranquillity. Rooted in clarity of form and linear proportion, The Linear home stands as a contemporary residence where geometry and light define spatial emotion. Designed by Kushal Thakker Architects, this 5BHK home for a family of 4 people in Gandhidham reflects the ethos of Linear Modernism — a philosophy that values balance, rhythm, and material honesty. Every space within the home has been articulated through clean lines, earthy warmth, modern essence and a seamless connection between architecture and interior detail.

    Spatial Planning and Design concepts

“On a north-facing plot in a premium, developing residential area of the city, the designers meticulously crafted the spatial layout to encourage both interaction and privacy.”

On the ground floor, entering through a modest vestibule and foyer, the visitor is welcomed by a formal living area that opens toward a landscaped garden and reflecting water body — creating an immediate sense of calm.

The puja space, placed beside the formal living room in the north-east corner of the house overlooking a small lotus pond, is also elevated with a double-height ceiling, adding a spiritual dimension through scale and natural illumination.

The ground floor accommodates a guest bedroom, a parents’ suite, a family lounge, and the kitchen with an adjoining breakfast counter.

A central triple-height dining area becomes the nucleus of the house — visually connecting all levels and allowing natural light to cascade through the core.

This vertical openness not only amplifies spatial volume but also anchors family interactions around a shared focal point.

“Up the stone-and-glass staircase, the first floor reveals three bedrooms and a passage overlooking the triple-height dining.”

“The son’s master suite opens to a semi-open terrace and balcony, linking the front façade to the garden.”

    Daughter Room Suite

“At the rear, the daughter’s suite offers a quiet retreat with lounge seating and muted tones, while an adjacent entertainment/guest room features a dark yet playful theme.”

All bedrooms reflect distinct personalities through tonal and textural contrasts. “A semi-open terrace on the second floor with lounge seating and plants, creating a casual retreat.”

    Interior Language and Material Palette

The interior design draws inspiration from the calm linear geometry of the architecture itself. “Warm wooden tones, soft greys, and muted beiges dominate the material palette, accentuated by brushed gold inserts and marble textures.” Veneers, matte laminates, PU finishes, and fabric panels create visual and tactile depth, while subtle grooves, paneling, and brass inlays echo the façade’s rhythm and highlight key edges. Custom-designed furniture pieces blend seamlessly into the interior space, creating a minimal yet tactile, sculptural yet functional design.”

Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood. Warm lighting and recessed profiles add depth, while the staircase becomes a sculptural feature over the triple-height void.

Each bedroom embraces its own theme while maintaining coherence with the home’s larger narrative. Graphite defines the son’s room, blush softens the daughter’s, and layered grey-pastels bring calm to the master suite.

    Design Essence

The Linear Abode exemplifies how restraint can yield richness. By weaving order, proportion, and material harmony into every layer, our team crafts a home that feels timeless, fluid, and deeply personal. It’s not just a residence it’s an architectural reflection of balance, emotion, and light.
