Welcome to Solterra Villa, a name inspired by the fusion of “Sol” (sun) and “Terra” (earth), symbolizing harmony. Nestled in the serene southwest district of Maharashtra, this exquisite home epitomizes the essence of a weekend retreat. Sprawling across a generous 7,000 sq. ft. plot, the design seamlessly integrates natural elements into the living spaces, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Architect Shruti has meticulously designed a home that weaves a family of four’s passions for gardening, hosting, and art into its very fabric, creating a true sanctuary for them.

The designers rooted the process in a fundamental principle—crafting natural elements and green spaces first and allowing the architecture to evolve around them. The entryway unfolds through a stone-clad pathway, accentuated by pebble tiles and a delicate canopy of bougainvillea, leading to a serene waiting area.
Here, the levels subtly shift, with the primary living spaces positioned slightly higher to preserve privacy.Smaller surrounding structures encircle the residence on a coveted corner plot, necessitating a delicate balance between privacy and openness.
The architects introduced elevated plinth levels and verdant pockets to achieve this, ensuring seclusion while safeguarding the home against flooding—an imperative response to the city’s recent climatic challenges.
The homeowners envisioned a tranquil haven, one that would provide solace amidst their fast-paced lives while remaining effortlessly low-maintenance. The resulting masterpiece is a harmonious interplay of natural elements. Lush greenery, abundant natural light, and tactile, earthy materials create a seamless flow between the interior and exterior realms.
A striking double-height courtyard acts as the nucleus of the home, connecting the living and dining areas. A gentle waterfall, a carved wooden temple, flourishing planters, pendant lighting, and a textural artwork adorn this space, with each element enhancing the sensory experience.
Expansive sliding windows blur the line between indoors and outdoors, filling each thoughtfully designed room with light, air, and views of the surrounding greenery. A green edge with trailing vines adds a natural touch, bringing ever-changing patterns of foliage to the home.
The home’s organic sensibility is brought to life through a carefully curated palette of natural materials. Black granite, grey stone cladding, and raw concrete textures form a grounding foundation, while handcrafted cement tiles, intricately carved wooden accents sourced from the local timber market, and terrazzo stone add layers of artisanal charm. Wooden ceilings enhance the warmth of the interiors, complementing the open-plan design that fosters an intimate indoor-outdoor synergy.
The compound wall is artfully enveloped by towering palm trees and a mature mango tree, offering a natural acoustic barrier and a lush screen of privacy. An inviting gazebo, set amidst this welcoming backdrop, becomes the ideal setting for hosting gatherings under a canopy of filtered light.
A thoughtfully positioned terrace, bridging the levels between the main plinth and ground floor, serves as a charming kitchen garden. Just a few steps above the kitchen and gracefully extending over the parking area, this serene oasis provides an abundance of fresh herbs and vegetables—truly embodying the home’s intrinsic connection to nature.
Ascending to the first floor, two elegantly appointed bedrooms unfold onto private, two-tiered terraces that command breathtaking views. A restrained color palette of soft pastels and muted beige, accentuated with Oakwood veneers, lends a refined yet minimalist aesthetic.
The carefully curated selection of carved furniture, bespoke artworks, and nature-inspired elements ensures that every space exudes an understated elegance.
Solterra Villa is more than just a place to live; it is a haven where nature and design come together in perfect harmony, creating an effortlessly elegant lifestyle. Every detail has been carefully considered to offer an experience that feels both refined and deeply connected to its surroundings, making it a true retreat from the outside world.
