I am an architectural photographer, architect, screenwriter, and mixed-media artist based out of Chandigarh. The journey from being the school kid holding his father’s reel camera for fun to an international award-winning photographer has been surreal. I was always drawn towards psychology, philosophy, filmmaking, storytelling, and special effects so they heavily influenced the way I saw the world. I love experimenting with colors, patterns, and abstract perspectives to tell the story of spaces. My fascination with the interaction of the sun with built form kept me going and landed me work back in my college days too. I really never planned on becoming a photographer when I started my architectural practice. Three years later, art found its way to prevail. Somehow life turned from being a part-timer to becoming the only photographer to have won the Trends Excellence Award twice and a silver spot at PX3, Paris. All of it led to me closely working with international and acclaimed design practices like Woha, Blocher Partners, MMoser, Mindspace architects, Studio Ardete, etc. I also love to work on my personal projects, such as Lost in Paradox, Beyond, Child’s play, etc. where I explore psychological, philosophical, and existential ideas.
Story, Style & Process
I create visuals to make you feel spaces as I do. It is very important to me that the viewer perceives the vibe and mood of the space as the designer envisioned it. I am heavily driven by my instincts to absorb space and they guide me to get the right captures. The balance of instinct and skill resonates to my core. I use it to capture the right light from the right place to get the perfect play of lines with light and shade. A photograph freezes the unseen connections between different elements in space. While shooting a building, I first comprehend the design intent of the architect and then apply my vision to make it permeate into the photographs. Architectural photography is a craft made to bring out the soul of the design.

Introduction : •studio suryan//dang is a collaborative practice for visual storytelling through various available mediums. We are two hosting partners as Saurabh Suryan & Lokesh Dang, formed the practice to help architects & designers document their works. They have been exhibiting their works at various galleries in India and Abroad. In 2019 they did an exhibition in Venice “still want dance” and also self published a book on their works. In the same year they got a place in the “top 15 architectural photographers to follow in the world” list by archdaily.
Story & Style : We host a variety of works ranging from Architecture photography and films to portraiture, landscape, documentary photography. Saurabh Suryan is a visual artist based in Delhi, who has been helping designers and architects narrate stories of their projects. Be it photography, films, or visual narration; Suryan has been an ace photographer at developing stories and delivering the best architectural narrative through the years. He started his journey as an architect working with Bijoy Jain in Mumbai and then continued it with Sameep Padora for many years before he formed studio suryan//dang. Lokesh Dang is a Delhi based visual artist and the focus of his work is Documentary photography. He received the National Media Awards for his project on Injustice faced by Northeast Community in Delhi, which spans over more than 4 years. He also got awarded with the Neel Dongre Awards in which he was looking at the Urban Villages of Gurgaon. He likes to experiment with Architectural Photography & Films, which provides a different eye to the projects.
Process : Studio Suryan//Dang provides a unique perspective to the architects and designers across India, with their expertise in architecture and documentary photography. The duo is known for using metaphors and people in their documentation, Both coming from variable backgrounds helps the studio do a variety of things. A studio with anon hierarchical structure allows for more fluid results and opportunities.

Framing the perspective, that’s photography to me, in this profession for the last three and half years. Introduction: Anish Padalkar is an interior-architectural photographer and an architect who’s been into photography for over 6 years now.Story and Style: Anish’s tryst with the camera goes back to his architecture college days when he would look forward to shooting various structures and monuments on the study tours, or just travel around cities exploring various styles of architecture. After graduating as an architect, he began shooting projects for his friends but it was only around 2016 when he actually dived into it. ‘Bizou’ is an Interiors and Architectural photography studio started by Biju Gopal in mid 2018. Although he had been doing Commercial & Product photography work for a long time, the urge to specialise in Interiors & Architecture was a strong one and he took the plunge.
