The residence is sensitively designed and compatible with the neighborhood. Distinct from neighboring structures, the building creates a strong relationship to the streets by virtue of its large windows in facades. While there are dramatic and larger scale elements that define the building, it is also broken down into comprehensible human scale blocks with an exposed brick design according to the functions.
Editor’s Note: Rooted in quiet strength and thoughtful elegance, this residence evokes a sense of calm introspection. Light dances through warm volumes, textures speak in hushed tones, and every space breathes with intention. It’s a home that feels lived in yet timeless, a gentle balance of soul, structure, and serene sophistication. ~Isha Bora
The Residence Features An Exposed Brick Design That Enhances Its Street Presence | R+R Architects
Each piece of the building is a strong and clearly defined shape creating visual contrast between exposed bricks, exposed concrete and green areas as well as glass windows. The entrance here is created in a way that light peeps from the stairway and creates a visual path leading towards the living area.
The staircase uses wood and glass to create a warm yet modern aesthetic. Each building element reads as an abstract form—like a window becoming a slit or transforming into a framed box—while contributing to a unified architectural whole. Having the ability to transform the living space is the most successful aspect of the design.
It’s not just opening a window or door system – it’s turning this whole structure into a screened-in porch. The use of the concrete in the ceiling is imposing in the residential project, along with the 45-degree angle stripe pattern.
The artwork plays a vital role, inspired from the le- Corbusier work along with the use of disparate fabrics that makes the art work more visually appealing in the master bedroom.
The use of the built-in screens multiple times every day and say that the quality of both the design and engineering of Centre doors and screens are clear to see.
The Leather bed back shows the traditional concept pattern of “taana baana”, which connects with the exposed concrete ceiling, also known as rustic interiors, along with the side Tables with the Italian Finish complement the entire details of the space. The vertical patterns all over the residence, along with the vivid materials, are the vital identity in the Residence.
This villa project was designed to sit comfortably within the community. However, it carves out a distinct identity through its materiality and scale.
The built-form pays homage to Le Corbusier’s modernism. Additionally, it pairs this ideology with brutalism to create a strong presence through its expression and the use of raw concrete and exposed brick.
The architecture establishes a strong relationship with the immediate context through large fenestration. Dramatic architectural gestures define the overall form, while the building breaks into a series of ‘readable’ human-scale blocks based on functions.
The visual contrast between exposed bricks, exposed concrete, and green areas, as well as glass windows, is striking. Moreover, this contrast helps in reinforcing the spatial delineation. The façade detailing uses angled brick arrangements that break the linear form.
Light ingress and a play of volumes of different heights keep the internal programme engaging. Grooved concrete ceilings dominate the materiality and create visual interest. Glass, brass, and solid wood temper the gravitas of concrete by adding visual lightness and warmth.
Clean-cut and contemporary, the interior environment features modern furniture and abstract art that balance beautifully with textural expanses. The highlight of the contemporary environment, however, is the versatility it possesses through its fenestration.
Finely detailed doors and windows and high-precision hardware turns spaces into transparent, connected-to-the-outside screened porches. Art plays a vital role in infusing the modernist appeal of the built-form into the enclosed environment.
Abstract wall murals, installations, and paintings evoke the master architect’s unique artistic outpourings. In fact, these elements vividly represent architectural work through carefully chosen motifs, forms, and colours.
