Located in the prestigious Lutyens Bungalow Zone, this villa showcases neoclassical style architecture as a harmonious blend of timeless elegance and contemporary design sensibilities. Designed to accommodate a growing family, the project balances the grandeur of its surroundings with a restrained, minimal aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from the rich architectural legacy of the area, the villa embodies a refined take on classical design.
Editor’s Note: “Lutyens Delhi house is a dialogue between eras of classical grandeur and modern refinement. Light reflects off antique brass fixtures and marble finishes, narrating a story of past and present. Designed with precision and artistry, this villa unfolds as a harmonic composition of space, material, and aesthetics.” ~ Anusha Sridhar
Neoclassical Style Architecture Showcases a Harmonious Blend of Past & Present | Nouveau Design Group
The exterior of the house is adorned with quintessential classical elements. Moreover, it includes colonnades, intricate motifs, and balusters, lending it a stately presence. Inside, the Parisian classical interior features a seamless interplay of tradition as well as modernity.
Neutral paneling with decorative ceiling motifs dominates the space. Additionally, it creates a serene and elegant backdrop. In contrast, the library introduces a tactile warmth with wood grain finishes. Thus, highlighting an open-grain matte veneer texture that extends throughout the house.
The formal areas are marked by antique brass-finished metal and glass doors, which enhance the classical ambiance while maintaining a sense of modern sophistication.
The furniture, carpets, and decorative lighting, curated with a distinctly modern touch, provide a striking counterpoint to the classical paneling, achieving a delicate balance between old-world charm and contemporary luxury.
The collaboration between NDG and M&E from Melbourne brought an international perspective to the design. Additionally, it ensures that the interiors exude a global appeal while staying rooted in their classical inspiration. However, this villa is a testament to the art of juxtaposition, where classical architecture and modern sensibilities coalesce to create a timeless family home.
