Inclined home is a place perfect for relaxation and retirement life. To create such an experience, it was important to enhance its surroundings. One of the major positives of the site is its entry from the east. A good amount of warm morning sunlight enters the house through the large openings. At the entrance, four trees are planted to enhance the shade and the shadow of the this sloped roof house.
Editor’s Note: “This sloped roof house by Casa Design Studio is an ideal getaway for leisure and retiring living. The cleverly zoned spaces and the material palette of Mangalore tiles and veneer alongside tropical landscaping create a welcoming ambiance. From the semi-outdoor dining area to the breezy interiors, this design combines all the best elements of traditionality and climate-responsive qualities.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

These create different patterns at different times inside the house. The residence does not block the views of the surrounding. The landscape of the house is dominated most by tropical plants.
A small planter box in the water body adjacent to the sit-out and pooja room holds Plumeria rubra, giving an island effect while creating an internal aura of reverence and tranquility.
As one enters the house, one can see that a foyer and a courtyard adjacent to the sit-out help to maintain privacy by detaching the sit-out from the other residential spaces. In this design, the roof was the most relevant element which reflects traditionality.
The design achieves elegance through its form, material, and color palette. Traditionally, Mangalore tiles clad the roofs, while plywood and veneer clad the underside of the typically gabled roof.
The dining area in the west stands out as the most incredible space, capturing both the morning and evening light. It then extends to a platform with a lush green backdrop that effectively restricts the harsh west sunlight.
The space has a feeling of semi-outdoor space. The dining area connects the spaces in the residence, which are parallel to each other. The dining acts as a converging area for the rest of the spaces.
The design zones the house into a living area and two bedrooms, featuring a balcony and a terrace on the first floor. Carefully planned around the dining area, the spaces incorporate a large opening that floods the house with natural light, deliberately engaging with the outside elements.
The house performs well climatically because it uses natural materials. Moreover, the facade of the residence has its own features, from the solid flat roof to the sloping roof interweaving glass and lush greens.
Additionally, the design of all the spaces in the residence captures the natural light outside while blending it with lush green views.
