Nestled in the serene locale of Banswara, Rajasthan, the exquisite interior design of this 6500 sq.ft. house epitomizes elegance and functionality, which the designer and now the house owners call is “sukoon.” Designed with meticulous attention to detail, this 3 BHK home seamlessly integrates a library, a rejuvenating jacuzzi, a modern gym, and an inviting outdoor terrace seating area. The ground floor, ingeniously designed as a commercial space, is discreetly concealed, preserving the home’s aesthetic integrity with a captivating grid pattern and lush greens that is in harmony with the surroundings.
Editor’s Note: “Inspired by Japandi and Scandinavian style, the interiors of this 3 BHK home, “Sukoon,” follow peculiar design language. The earthy color tones, organic furnishings, and well-lit spaces transcend the essence of nature. Each corner of the house reflects the design intent through unique artwork, natural materials, and arched windows, infusing an energizing aura.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

The interior design of this house beautifully marries Japandi principles—characterized by the tranquil Zen elements of Japanese design—with the clean, functional aspects of Scandinavian style. The result is a harmonious blend of earthy tones and minimalist warmth, evident throughout the space.
In the living room, the walls are adorned with a soft, earthy wash, setting a serene backdrop for the carefully chosen furnishings.
The upholstery and furniture, enveloped in warm tones, create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. Noteworthy are the rattan chairs, which add a touch of natural elegance, and the subtle niches lined with wooden planks that introduce a refined texture.
An arched passageway gracefully leads to the dining area, where small arch-shaped niches showcase vibrant art pieces, enhancing the room’s charm.
The kitchen stands as a testament to modern design, featuring a chic combination of wood, brass, and cement textures. Its also airy, fresh ambiance that invites culinary creativity.
The pooja room offers a cultural touch with lotuses suspended from the ceiling and brass-lined lotus patterns on the white stone flooring, also infusing the space with a rich, positive energy.
The master bedroom exudes sophistication, highlighted by a wooden frame with cane screening behind the bed, also adding a touch of richness.
The room’s full-size arched windows open to reveal a view of the living area, merging spaces seamlessly. Furthermore, the walk-in closet continues the design language with its streamlined, elegant approach.
A standout feature of the home is the custom macrame wall hangings that adorn the staircase wall. These earthy-hued macrame flowers in the foyer entrance create a focal point, showcasing bespoke artistry that complements the overall design narrative.
In the grandparents’ room, the use of full-size arched windows and contoured ceiling elements ensures continuity with the overall design.
The bed rest mirrors the arched theme, while wooden flooring and earthy tones create a cozy, harmonious environment.
The daughter’s room bursts with vibrancy and coziness, also featuring abstract monochromatic tree wallpaper and a dynamic ceiling design.
The use of wood and wooden flooring contributes to the room’s warm, and also inviting ambiance.
The balcony is a dreamlike retreat. Yes, it becomes complete with chic exterior furniture, macarame curtains, a rattan ceiling, and clay pot murals. It also provides a perfect blend of comfort and style.
