    1800 sqft house

The key concepts for the creation of the 1800 sqft house are functionality, aesthetics, and environmental considerations. This is achieved through a minimal, elegant, and classic design.

    Minimalist Residence

White Box is a minimalistic residential project that emphasises effective spatial planning and openness. The arrangement of various rooms and spaces ensures optimal functionality and flow through the design.

Opening up the interior by removing the partitions created a multi-functional space without compromising the segregation of activities that occur in a family.

One of the major challenge the architects had to overcome while designing was to accommodate all the features of a modern residence within the limited area.

Large openings, clean geometry and custom made furniture merge together to craft a contemporary house that frames a vista towards the hill.

    Serene Views

The key features of the design are a sense of place, views and sunlight as the home is amply lit naturally during day time.

Also, these openings craft a house that is expansive with views that frame the blue sky and green rubber plantations, where the owners get the perfect viewpoint to unwind after a long, hectic, and tiring day.

The placement of bay windows in bedrooms allows for maximum sunlight and wind flow, along with calm green views.

A home with clean lines and smooth planes that is extremely functional and aesthetic at the same time where the owners feel a sense of calmness as you enter inside. This is achieved through the interior that is minimal but is rich in texture and vision.

    Clean Surfaces

The minimalistic architecture palette is continued in terms of colour, form, and materials. Clean surfaces, neutral colours, and elegantly crafted furniture enhance the overall aesthetics of the home. The design uses white, cement, and green throughout.

Contrasting-colour furniture adds a pop of colour, breaking the monotony. Sustainability is also factored in by reusing the furniture that belonged to the clients’ old home.

    Local Craftsmanship

The design encourages local artisans to craft aesthetic finishes, including the exposed concrete ceiling, textured walls, and in-situ cast cement pavers adorned with pearl grass.

Gentle color tones throughout the house complement the light grey concrete finish of the ceiling. The sleek exposed concrete finish also helped in reducing the cost as it eliminated the cost for plastering and painting.

A deck area is provided as an extension from family dining to the garden which acts as a patio where informal family gathering can take place. The deck area which expands in to the garden improved the functionality by enhancing a sense of spaciousness by merging inner space of the home with the serene landscape outside. The landscape of this patio is curated as a vegetable garden. The gate accommodates an extra car when needed, addressing the narrow entry road to the plot.
