RSAA Studio is an architecture, interior, and landscape design studio, situated in the city of Gurgaon, Haryana. In this conversation, Ar. Rohit Sikri reveals his journey into the world of architecture and design.
Ever since childhood, I loved doodling around, and as a kid my mother used to take me to drawing competitions where my teachers saw the potential and I kept following that. Majorly, passion comes from the inspiration that nature gives me. It opens my mind to the creative spaces that can be made. This profession allowed me to express my creativity and bring those ideas to life.
While I was doing my master’s, on the way back home from college, I used to manifest having my studio, which will have my aesthetics and after 2 years of struggle, I put all my energies into creating this studio. Opening the studio required significant effort, dedication, and risk. However, the sense of personal pride and fulfillment was beyond imagination and hence it outweighed all the challenges.
I don’t want to sound philosophical here but I believe a design can depict someone’s personality and this very thing I keep in mind while designing anything. The building should tell a story or reflect the culture and values of its users. Keeping in mind sustainability, I also believe the building should minimize its impact on the environment and maximize energy efficiency.
My design ideations come from books, movies, explore & most importantly, travel! I love exploring new materials, forms, and design methods.
My design language changed when I realized that every project has a different approach & nature to it. I started to adjust to different design languages in response to new challenges and opportunities. I keep on analyzing my past projects, to identify areas for improvement, and thereby refining their approach.

One of my latest projects, Melodious Kutiram, which is situated in Gurugram Sector 7. That one building changed the vibe of the whole area. It introduced the concept of modern housing mixed with traditional elements in that area. Seeing the impact on the people in the house and the joy it brings to visitors has been incredibly fulfilling for me. This project’s innovative designs allowed me to express creativity and push the boundaries of architecture.
With AI, we can now make more realistic renders giving the vibe of the project beforehand to the clients. By embracing these technologies, architects can enhance their design process, improve collaboration, and create more efficient, sustainable, and innovative buildings.
While making The DoaR School, a nature-inspired school for underprivileged children, we tried our hands first time on the organic and curvilinear design inspired by natural forms with sustainable materials such as reclaimed wood, bamboo, and earthbags. By combining nature-inspired design, sustainable practices, and innovative learning approaches, this project offered me a unique and empowering experience.
By pushing boundaries and challenging conventional thinking, I create projects that not only transform physical spaces but also influence users’ perceptions, behaviors, and relationships with the built environment. I aspire to create vibrant public areas that foster community interaction.
Travel, Dance, Music, & Badminton.
With time, I developed my unique design style and aesthetic. Most importantly, I learned to navigate complex challenges and constraints by mastering the art of working with diverse stakeholders.
Apart from learning to become more self-confident in design decisions, I want to learn work-life balance by navigating the demands of the profession and maintaining personal well-being as well.
