  • The Two Story House Design Fosters A Visual Connectivity And Privacy | Casa Design Studio

The two-story house design fosters a visual connectivity and privacy. The south-facing sloping roof in this design offers a multitude of benefits for creating a comfortable and energy-efficient living space. By directing the sun’s rays away from the building’s thermal envelope, the slope significantly reduces heat gain.

Editor’s Note: “Rubble stone cladding, Mangalore tiles for the roofing and super white walls create a dramatic composition for this abode in Kerala. The linear planning with a sloping roof allows for a comfortable and energy-efficient design. The planning is fluid in nature which allows for visually connected spaces.” ~Simran Khare

Additionally, linear planning in the design allows for better natural light distribution as windows and doors along the extended lines created by the layout.

This approach fostered a sense of fluidity and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the residence. The spaces creates a sense of visual connectivity.

This translates to cooler interior temperatures, naturally mitigating the harsh summer heat and minimizing reliance on energy-intensive air conditioning systems.

The spaces have been meticulously designed to create a sense of visual connectivity, ensuring each area is linked to the others through sightlines and design elements.

Upon entering the residence, one encounters a spacious hall that unfolds into a designated zone. This zone cleverly integrates public, semi-private, and private spaces, with the public area (living room) distinguished by a vertical wooden element.

The spacious hall serves a dual purpose: facilitating seamless movement throughout the space while simultaneously creating a sense of enclosure for the public area, fostering a comfortable gathering space.

To bathe the first-floor passage in soft, natural light, a slit window has been incorporated into the wall. This subtle design element allows for natural illumination without sacrificing privacy or compromising the feel of the space.

Instead of using the main entrance, a convenient opening in the dining area, which is close to the kitchen, allows residents to access the house directly. This creates a secondary entry point for added convenience.

The fluid design ensures that each area is linked to the others through sightlines and design elements. At the same time, it fosters a feeling of openness and flow throughout the entire space.

Linear planning in this residential design offers the advantage of maximizing connectivity and flow between spaces. By arranging rooms or zones in a sequential layout along a central space, linear planning creates clear sightlines and promotes easy movement.

The first-floor balcony is strategically positioned to offer a breath-taking panorama, encompassing both the flowing stream and the vast surrounding landscape. This placement allows you to enjoy the beauty of both intimate and expansive views, maximizing the connection between the house and its environment.

The spatial design fosters a feeling of openness and flow throughout the entire space.

The passive cooling approach fosters a more sustainable and cost-effective living environment, while simultaneously contributing to a more pleasant microclimate within the residence.
