A young couple infuses the living spaces in the heart of an ageing family estate with contemporary charm while honouring heritage of the past. Their aspiration was to create inviting entertainment zones within the home. A space where they could relax, connect with loved ones, and host gatherings. At the same time, maintaining a light and airy ambiance that harmonized with the traditional elements of the house. Thus, “Couple’s Retreat” was born.

The focal point of the transformation was the entertainment room. A multifunctional space intended to serve as a TV room, living area, and guest retreat.
Despite its modest 220-square-foot size, the room boasted lofty ceilings that imparted a sense of spaciousness.
To enhance the feeling of openness while accommodating guests, the design team opted for a palette of whites and light colors, complemented by the warmth of teak wood accents.
The addition of a brass chandelier and door handles added a touch of luxury to the elegant space, creating a welcoming atmosphere for socializing and relaxation.
Another area of focus was the previously neglected den space, transformed into a functional workspace for the couple. Glass sliding doors, coupled with linen curtains, provided visual and sound privacy without sacrificing the room’s sense of openness.
White bookshelves created the illusion of a larger space, while teak furniture and black accents complemented the existing marble flooring.
The adjacent bathroom received a playful and colorful makeover, surprising occupants and visitors alike with its vibrant charm.
The kitchen underwent a dramatic renovation, transitioning from a dark and outdated space to a bright and inviting culinary haven. Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry in glossy white created an illusion of spaciousness while offering ample storage solutions.
Warmth was introduced through tile wood flooring, oak cabinetry, and wood ceiling paneling, while brass hardware and lighting added an elegant touch to the space, seamlessly blending modern functionality with timeless charm.
Structural renovations extended to the balcony, where the addition of a roof provided protection against the elements of nature, transforming it into an enclosed veranda and outdoor seating area. Sustainable materials such as mild steel, shera board ceiling, concrete floor tiles, and granite and stone cladding were meticulously chosen to elevate the space while maintaining environmental consciousness. Against the backdrop of the lush garden, the modern facade of the traditional home found its perfect complement, creating a harmonious blend of past and present.
Throughout the interior design journey, the studio endeavored to create spaces that reflected the personalities and aspirations of the young couple while honoring the legacy of the family home. By seamlessly blending traditional elements with modern accents and sustainable practices, each area of the house was transformed into a haven for relaxation, connection, and joyful gatherings, ensuring that the home would continue to be a cherished sanctuary for generations to come.
