Responding to the Clients’ Desire For A Minimal And Tropical Aesthetics | Bani Architects

This home tells a story of how a contemporary flat slab residence has been reimagined for a tropical style dwelling by interrupting the conventional four walled blocks-by adding tropically adaptive inclined canopy over it, which makes it unique in its own way.

Positioned away from the hustle and bustle, the home creates an oasis of peace inside while also offering effective screening against noise and sound pollution. Vertical jaali on SW side allow maximum air flow, a water feature proposed adjacent to it facilitates the circulation of cool air, enhancing internal thermal comfort.

A narrow linear driveway leads to the square plot creating a sense of curiosity.

A narrow linear driveway leads to the square plot creating a sense of curiosity.

A linear sit out featuring a floating slab supported by four steel posts, ensuring a seamless visual continuity without disrupting the appearance of the laterite wall behind.

Since western and southern part of this site hold thick vegetation, large windows are integrated on North and east façade to enhance wind flow.

The core area of the residence sustains its temperature by expelling hot air through large opening on the northern side, thereby allowing the influx of cool air to take its place.

The drama of the laterite wall in the minimalist sit out beckons the guest to the surprise.

The core space with library receives maximum wind and rests under the linear skylight. A voluminous double-height space is crafted on the northeastern side, and the windows on the northern and eastern facades create a play of light within this elevated volume.

The clerestory window on the northern facade and the large window on the eastern side flood the whole area with natural light and ventilation. Beyond this, these windows enhance the exterior aesthetics.

Allowing maximized airflow and adequate lighting and minimized excessive heat gain by strategically placed windows, which is also creating an ease on airflow across the pathways are one of the distinct features of the design

Seamless connectivity between the dining area, reading space, and kitchen fosters an interactive and dynamic environment.

A well-balanced use of materials such as natural kotta stone, brick cladding embraces an earthy – rustic tone which creates a cozy interior-a fulfilment of the client’s preferences.

The space tries to breath fresh air and joy with its playful and quirky interiors into its inhabitants.
