  • Sawai Man Mahal Portrays Royal and Regal Hospitality Design | IDEAS

When one thinks of hospitality design in India, the Rajasthani culture and everything under it makes on top of the list.

Set in the heart of the city of Jaipur, Sawai Man Mahal is a new hospitality Project situated on a 47- acre land of lush greens that is home to the prestigious Rambagh Palace. The Rambagh Palace was built in 1835, it has evolved in form and functionality over time, from a modest house to a hunting lodge and finally residence to the royal family of Jaipur. The Prince, Sawai Man Singh II envisioned spreading the Rajputana way of hospitality and making it the first palace converted hotel in the country. The Palace offers an unmatched fusion of Rajputana hospitality design and modern luxury. This Jewel of Jaipur radiates the Royalty of Rajasthan with its world-class services.

Editor’s note: Sawai Man Mahal occupies a part of the famous Rambagh palace and the reflection of Rajasthani architecture and hospitality is etched in its structure. Native carvings and local motifs adorn the planning and building, with the foliage rounding up the luxurious intricacies that IDEAS have executed with unwavering attention. ~ Nishal Sevak

Sawai Man Mahal Portrays Royal and Regal Hospitality Design | IDEAS

What was once a convention center neighboring the palace block, has been restored into a new hotel in the honor of the king, Sawai Man Singh II. The design endeavors to take its guests on a historic journey to discover echoes of the magnificent past of Rajputana Heritage.

An architectural masterpiece designed and planned mindfully to achieve a balance of rustic exteriors and Immaculate interiors. The exterior qualities of the façade have been retained and valued. The internal courts have also been preserved and restored by adding flora with the engagement of water features.

    A sensory experience

There are four different locations with water body features that control the microclimate of those zones and overall create a calm and serene environment. A luxurious outdoor swimming pool is placed on an elevated deck which provides a breathtaking view of the entire hotel. To fully immerse in the abundance of the outdoors, an inbuilt Jacuzzi is constructed in the swimming pool, to provide the guests with a wholesome experience.

    La Terreza

The guests and visitors follow an all-sensory route towards the public amenities and guest rooms. The grandeur of lush green lawns built with a wide variety of flora invites different species of birds. The Rambagh Palace is already a home to many peacocks and they can be spotted here at most times of the day too.

    Guest rooms & courtyards

The connection with the nature does not end in the public areas but is thoughtfully incorporated within the internal parts of the hotel also, such as the Guest Rooms. There are a total of 52 rooms divided into various categories. All rooms have private courtyards attached so that the guests get to enjoy the indoors and outdoors equally.

Existing trees around the guest room blocks have been respectfully preserved. These aged trees provide shade and create tranquility in the surrounding. The Plunge Pool Suites have a luxurious décor and each of them have private plunge pools in the courtyards.

All guest rooms present lavish facilities such as King size beds, lounging sofas, in-house bar units, fireplace structures, individual dressing areas with attached toilets each with a statement piece, and a royal freestanding bathtub.

Each room is designed in a tasteful contemporary fashion, with no scope left in providing the guests with the best housing experience of all time. Giving utmost comfort and finesse through all furniture pieces and fabrics.

    Presidential Suite

The highest category of room is the Presidential Suite which is named after Maharaja Prithvi Raj Singh in the honor of his vision for this hotel as one of his future endeavors which could be made a reality today. The epitome of luxury resides in these suites.

    Keeping the local skills alive

The keen focus during the making of this project was on local craftsmanship & preservation of heritage. Trying to use as many locally produced materials as possible. Traditionally crafted flooring stones and tiles have been used in the entire premise, Yellow Jaisalmer Stone from Jaisalmer, red Mandana stone from Jodhpur, and Ambaji White marble, all collectively placed representing the richness of the state of Rajasthan.

    The sprawling landscape

The plaster cornice detailing on the ceiling of all rooms public or otherwise has also been intricately designed and moulded. The landscape designing and light designing are all chosen in a manner to compliment the entire project.
