Vastu shastra since ancient times has been an integral part of Indian architecture, we strive to incorporate these scientific principles in our designs as well, aiding the residents to make their house a home. This rectangular plot of 2400 Sq.ft. With a footprint of 4000 sq.ft, it is a residence where the indoor public spaces are integrated with the outdoors, following Vastu principles. The centrally aligned staircase cabin acts as transitional space from the public to the private zones.

Editor’s note : “Can modesty blind beauty?” The unassuming dwelling answers this by embracing a modest yet captivating design that conceals its many treasures. The first level projects out transforming into an extended covered balcony for the Master bedroom, this horizontal slab line climbs down the residence via multiple vertical lines accentuating the verticality and enveloping the building from three sides.
Designed for three generations, timeless timber elements coalesce with modern elements and furnishings connects and transforms the residence into a warm household. The ground floor is given over to generous communal spaces. On the upper floor of the home are the family’s bedrooms and the outdoor terraces.
A warm and detailed wooden foyer greets you on your way to the living room. Neptune Company ceiling light illuminates the foyer with a beautiful floral backdrop.
The living room extends this warm, earthy vibe with a natural material palette and neutral tones the terracotta sofas add a pop of colour to the space.
The living room further extends into a second seating room interconnected with an open kitchen and dining areas.
The standalone island worktop is a focal piece with a black marble central ledge with satuario on top of the platform. A regal black glass dining table top is surrounded by mid-century chairs. A modern interpretation of mandir is carved on the door, the cut-outs give a glimpse of the traditional wooden mandir inside.
The pristine white satuario kitchen showcases elegance and class, with the wooden inbuilt console adding the touch of warmth to the Kitchen.
Master bedroom : This spacious master bedroom has everything that a prime suite that needs to be comfortable, relaxing and elegant.
Rendered in a simple palette of timber and sepia tones, the bedroom has an open and translucent layout where in ample of natural light infiltrates from the extended open balcony right across the bed.
The signature turquoise velvet bed with brass legs proudly sits in the centre accompanied by two side tables with a wooden back drop. With a walk-in closet is just a fluted door away this suite has it all.
Daughter’s bedroom : This soft and playful bedroom includes blushing pink wardrobes, soft white walls and a subtle grey panelling encasing the platform bed. The wooden study and the seating adds a character to the daughter’s room.
Parent’s room : Contradicting the daughter’s room, the room for the elderly has been done in muted palette and earthy tones which is easy to get acclimatize to.
The wooden wardrobe softens the atmosphere aiding to make it more homely.
Home Theatre : For watching colourful motion pictures, the room dedicated for it has to be dramatic too.
A combined colour palette of blue and grey makes up this room. With an elevated platform bed/ sofa eases you in to the movie mode, where just pop a tub of popcorn, lay down and enjoy. The soft blue backdrop of the TV blends into the room not driving your focus away from the TV.
Staircase : This half turn stair-case acts as a transitional vestibule for the public and private spaces. The soft alabaster hued staircase with a minimalistic timber railing and the patterned walls aligned with it evokes a sense of tranquillity.
