  • 5 Small Home Upgrades that Make a Big Difference

Everyone wants a little bit of wow factor when it come to the design of their home. Not only do you have to spend a lot of time there, so obviously you want to make it look nice, but you also want to be proud to invite people to come over. There are some amazing home transformation stories, pictures, and television shows that you could marvel at for hours, but in reality, you don’t have to make such drastic, expensive and time consuming changes to add a new lease of life to your home; these small (and relatively easy) upgrades work a treat!

    1.      Paint

When it comes to interior design and upgrading your home, colour is everything. There is nothing like a fresh lick of paint and an injection of colour to completely transform a room from dull and dated to crisp and new. Painting a room can add light, open up spaces, and give the area a completely different feeling. Digging out the overalls and doing it yourself is a cheap and easy way to refresh and upgrade your home, but the difference is instantly recognisable.

    2.      Refinish Your Cabinets

Bathroom and kitchen cabinets are one of the fastest elements of the home that become old and outdated, which is why upgrading them makes a big difference when you are making home improvements.  For both the bathroom and kitchen, a simple way to effectively upgrade the room without going for the complete remodel and start again, is to invest in refinishing the cabinets. This requires a much smaller budget but will give the room the revamp that it needs.

    3.      Flooring

There is nothing worse than outdated laminate flooring, and no one wants to see stained or patterned carpets when they walk through the door. You get so used to seeing your flooring day in and day out that you forget that this simple change can mean some serious home improvement. Scrap your current flooring and opt for something sleek and natural from a trusted timber board supplier. Wooden flooring is the upgrade you forgot you needed, but boy does it look good.

    4.      Light it Up

Adding light to a room makes such a big difference to the ambience and atmosphere. And upgrading your light fixtures can add that extra splash of newness and sophistication that your rooms have been missing. Having a consistent style throughout the house is a slick option, but adding statement lighting can really refine a room and add a touch of style to your upgrades.

    5.      Front Door

Everyone knows that first impressions are incredibly important; at an interview, a first date, and when meeting your new partner’s family for the first time. So obviously your front door is possibly one of the most important and influential home upgrades that you can make. Whether you go all out and completely replace what you have, or just replenish the finishings, sprucing up your front door can greatly improve the curb appeal of your home.

The thought of upgrading your home can be a little daunting and overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be such a huge task and small changes really can make a world of difference.
